    Great 300Km trip

Had the chance to make a 300Km trip with me on the Porsche, wife on the Maserati and vice versa. It was great to see for so many time your won cars in action, having time to see both from outside while rollling, checking the beautiful lines and little details with time and on the right place, the road. Most amazing part was me cruising in Porsche at 90Kph with roof down at hearing the Maserati passing by at 7500Rpm with Larini exhaust and valves open, just EPIC believe me. Wife made this exercise more than 15 times, and each time was like Smiley I just couldn´t feed up of hearing the screaming beast

But the trip started on a bad way as we had a puncture on Mase. It was ripped on the side wall so new tire was needed Front tire is 245/35 20", so not easiest measure to have in stock. We stop by a garage near the road we were and after two phone calls the owner told me to come back after two hours and get the car with new tire!! We went for lunch and while both cars were there everybody was looking at the Maserati, nobody notice the Porsche. The amount of attention this car gets is surprising, I have had the most funny encounters with it ever since day one of ownership. Here´s the Mase getting the tire

    Shiny Maserati

So off we went. The weather was good and roads were clear, highway was empty too as you can see by the pic so we could make some side by side test runs Smiley. Mase could old on from 150Kph up, but still loosing ground, from 70Kph to 200Kph Porsche destroys the Italian completely.

    Empty highway

Let the fun begin with side by side, wife was happy too Smiley

Checking the beauty lines of 911 while rolling

    Maserati charm

    Stopping for coffee and fuel

Maserati blasting by at 7500rpm, woooonderful music Smiley Smiley

    Wonderland Smiley

Dont say anynone Smiley injection cut it at 310Kph, but in a very soft way.

    Finaly at home safe Smiley

Some remarks.Wife much prefer the Mase, according to her, rides a bit higher than Porsche, softer, more silent and easier to drive, but didn´t like the attention it gets, a guy asked to mary him while she was in the line to pay the toll Smiley, she drove the Mase most of the time.

Maserati has an old school engine and soul, you can only feel the power from 4500rpm up, it´s torqueless, autobox with torque converter, soft at very high speeds and makes 5 more gas liter at each 100km than Porsche, but still, if feels so special to drive the thing I really can´t explain, but I just love more and more this car, it gives me pleasure at 50Kph as it gives at 200Kph. Firing it up in the morning it´s always a special moment, engine sound at any rev band it´s glorious, the Porsche doesn´t give this feeling and became some how "vulgar" ever since I bought the Mase!!! Together with the AM Rapide It´s the only exotic sedan on the market and this GTS version with lower suspension, 20" wheels,  lots of carbon and alcantara inside really makes the cabin a very pleasant place to be in, handles much better than expected too. Both cars are very different and both complement each other, happy with this par Smiley, and working to buy the real exotic sports car I want to have, Gallardo, or even the Huracan is life goes well Smiley

I never looked twice to the Quattroporte either untill one day out of nowhere I ended up testing one and after first drive I was conviced.  As to the picture, it wasn´t me who took it Smiley

J Seven - my wife refers to our cars (3) as a "portfolio", like a portfolio of investments - you need some variety in your investments in order to have the best overall results.  Smiley  In our case, our Range Rover Sport occupies the position of your Maserati; supercharged power, big V8 rumble when you're on the gas, but otherwise quiet and serene place to listen to music as the 1000' km go by; it is easily the long distance champion (did a 8000 km road trip last summer).   The 997 is the "involvement" car for when we are taking roads that are special (and it is my wife's daily driver for the warm half of the year).  Finally our Subari STi is the winter rally car + city driving runabout.   So we understand perfectly how a suite of cars is far more pleasurable than one!   And it lets you have interesting conversations about "which car to take..."!

Fully agre with you  4trac, it´s great to have different cars, if I had only one, after 3 months I would be completely feed up of it. Each of my cars has it´s own merits, for instance the X6 is the ergonimic king, it´s great how this car makes you feel inside, the roof, steering wheel, doors panels and dash controls are all so next to you, making you feel more "in the car" than "on the car" if you know what I mean, down side is diesel engine noise. The X5 it´s vulgar but the V8 has lots of torque and it jumps on the red lights like speedy Gonzalez. Porsche it´s three on one Smiley, wonderful Cab,  nice Coupe with hardtop and good sports cars to have fun, down part is that you can see it all over the place nowadays. Maserati sings like no other, engine sound alone is worth the price of ownership and it has timeless lines to look at, very rare and exclusive car which is pleasant, downside is torqueless & lazy engine at low revs, heavy chassi and dated tech/gadgets. So yes, it´s much more pleasant to have several cars than only one.
