Really? Have you tried a parking garage especially in Italy or France?
Well, I live in Spain... Obviously it is not like parking a Fiat 500 but I find it much better than my former Cayenne. Cannot hide size, but can handle it.

How are the standard tyres watt, would they be ok on gravel? What about underside protection and stainless steel front and rear apron? Better also get rubber mats to protect the carpets as well.
You know that in NZ even if you have a 4wd you have to put on chains to go to the snow?

If we got seriously offroad we would need a snorkel and winch too, but plates are a good idea at the start, thanks
. the road tyres will work for the likes of driving through Molesworth and Rainbow Stations which is pretty good roads. Mud snows would be next.
I had planned on just using turbo s cab or s cab 991 like i do in Wyoming and Utah [letting that set the road type extreme], but the NZ porsche guys say no, you need clearance. They warned me off an 2014 4wd e63 s wagon like I have in usa.
I hear with the roads all so low altitude, theres little snow driving, and carrying chains always makes sense, but I cant imagine they are going to freeze their butts off to hassle me to put them on....
The cop coverage is pretty thin and they leave their radar on which makes life pretty nice
This is late to the party news. In having my tt serviced I was provided a cayenne diesel loaner for what turned into two days.initially I was ok thanks I'll drive it home and stick it in the garage and use something else. that perception lasted about until I was back on the road. It's pretty simple WOW. on all accounts. Porsche has come up with something pretty special, or at least that was my perception. I haven't driven anything new Porsche related in a couple of years & have been put off by the whole VW thing. I'll be the first to admit I was way wrong , at least based on this gem. first off black / black looked great. Underway , the interior feels comfortable right away. all the materials are first rate + the aluminium trim accents set everything off nicely. seats were both supportive & comfortable. Nice. By now I'm hooked & have given up all thoughts of putting this beauty in the garage. I'm gonna drive it everywhere. can't pick up the tt until tomorrow , not a problem. But how in the &$@# can you get a diesel to perform like this. It's quick & quiet. the window sticker says 70K. I'm thinking this seems almost a bargin. the obvious build quality instill the thought that this vehicle can go the distance everyday , which is huge to me in selecting a daily driver. I'm thinking all the recent Porsche offerings are most likely all most likely first rate. I'm quickly over the VW thing. But I'm still thinking don't run this guy out of fuel or you'll wish you didnt . In picking up the tt I'm back to some Porsche reality. $93.00 for a replacement can of tire sealant, I'll be at autozone for 10 bucks. apparently the differential lubricant , only available in 20 liters @ $900.00 + when I need 1lt. is even beyond my local dealer as they don't have any. on a positive note these guys seem to be moving away from the standoffish culture that seems to have been all pervasive in the past. .... My take, I'd buy a new one & have no reservations of past angst in getting something serviced, these guys were actually friendly. Good for Porsche on all accounts.
I, personally, hate Diesels. I hate the noise and I hate the engine characteristic. Some time ago I had a BMW X5 3.5d as daily driver and I hated every single mile in the car. I was the luckiest person on earth as that thing was gone after 3 years and I've got the Panamera GTS instead.
I thought I would never, ever consider a Diesel again. Until I drove the Cayenne Diesel S. It sounds like a very big petrol V8, with an amazing deep, grumbling sound! And it pulls - oh my god! This is one of the best engines you can get for the cayenne.

Indeed, the Cayenne S Diesel is the only Diesel model I would buy from Porsche but then, why wouldn't they give this truck more power? Maybe with the facelift... 
450 hp would be appropriate and yes, I know this isn't going to happen.

in my view your fail to appreciate the "unique selling point" of the V 8 Diesel engine in the Cayenne S Diesel. It is not an hp game, it is a torque game, and with its 850 nm of peak torque, the S Diesel has amazing in-gear acceleration. No need to fear any TDI competetion on the motorway when accelerating in real world driving situations, unlike in NA Cayenne S ot GTS models.
The upcoming face lift will give it a few extra horses (approx. 400 hp), but that does not really matter so much.
