Anyone know anything about a special edition turbo s GB version at all??
Why should there be such a version anyway?
Porsche Cars GB has been known to put together its own "special" (cosmetic!) versions in the past to create a little bit more interest in the market.

My greatest concern is that the window for getting your hands on a NA base engine equipped 911 ex works will be closed before you know it. And it might come up much quicker than you'd ever expect. In fact, I can sense it closing already...
In other words, I'm afraid NA will very soon be reserved for some top model à la GTS/GTx whatshallIcallit. And that means no more true at heart, no frills, pure honest base 911 with manual tranny built for reving paradise. It was no torque monster, true, but there will come a time when we all lust for that old pureness of the good old times of sweet throttle response.
Porsche, when is the time for the last call?

Is the 988 the 960 or a rung below it on the product ladder?
According to Autocar the "988" is the internal designation for the Porsche 960...
Autocar:
"Porsche engineers are hard at work on a new sports car family that will span four models - from a four-cylinder turbocharged Boxster to a mighty eight-cylinder supercar that will directly target the Ferrari 458.
The as yet unnamed flagship model - thought to be carrying the development tag '988' - finally addresses the long-held concern of many Porsche engineers: that the company cannot adequately compete with eight-cylinder Ferraris with the classic six-cylinder engine used by the 911.
There's no clear news on the shape of the 988, although it will have strong shades of the 918 hypercar about its styling and in detailing such as the headlamps. Expect a long rear deck, too, because of the mid-mounted flat eight engine."

960 or 988, I think this baby belongs to a new thread
+1 - a little moderation would go a long way
Can't we join it with the AMG GT thread and Driving in Russia thread? Then I don't have to click around so much

Porsche 991 GT3 RS prototype testing at the Nurburgring... (video)
"Here’s a proper, longer video of the upcoming Porsche 991 GT3 RS undergoing thorough testing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. There are in fact two prototypes to be seen in this video, not sure if there’s a difference but the sound and looks indicate there are no differences between the two prototypes. As can be heard from this video the 991 GT3 RS seems to be naturally aspirated..." -- TouriClips

Although the article claims the double bubble roof is there for helmet room, I think this is wrong (roof line is simply lower in the middle, not higher on the outer parts). I think the channel is in the front hood and roof to direct air to the rear wing, not for interior room purposes...
