    Torque difference as well?

Yes. For example (but, these are not accurate numbers):

    AMG GT 480ps/720Nm

    AMG GT S 520ps/760Nm

Anything about the weight? Any AWD (4matic) models on the horizon?

Weight-lighter then SLS AMG. No AWD, RWD only with clever rear LSD. Btw, traction won't be an issue on AMG GT.

    New interior pic...

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

On paper the AMG GT is the most promising sports car that doesn't come from Porsche. I expect a very high level of engineering from AMG on this model.

However, I suspect that the boxy nose section will contrast rather unfittingly  with the sloping and very rounded rear part. Anyway, we have to see the baby before we speak for sure.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

If the AMG GT doesn't have two rear seats (which I'm not aware of), it won't be a real 911 competitor. I know so many people interested in the Mercedes SL but they went for a 911 (mostly Cab) instead because they wanted the rear seats.

    FWIW I'd have had a boxster\Cayman over 991 if I didn't need the seats.

    Dat armrest.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks wide. I'm not a fan of these giant arm rest areas and so many knobs and switches and levers(?!)

I know you like the non-existent armrest of the 12C

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

Now that you mention it, it seems weird not to have one, but I honestly never noticed it. Maybe it's due to always having driven a stick and resting my hand on it. Now the upshift (all that matters really,) is on the right paddle and my hand is always holding the wheel.

I don't think arm rests are needed in cars to be honest. I'll have to wait till I get home next month to see if I actually use arm rests. I don't think I do. My R8 had one, but I must not have ever used it because I had my ipod/charger always plugged into the AUX port and it couldn't be closed.

Edit: Err, apparently it does have one. Guess I just don't notice it.

The one in the 12C is too low to be useful, feel quite awkward when I try to rest my arm on it. Same thing with the one in my 997 Turbo S.

Not if it costs the same. Smiley Keep in mind that it has two seats only.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

You can admire AMG for wanting to build a 911 competitor, but without nominal 2+2 utility it seems they have not done much more but to supersize a SLK or shrink a SLS.   Daimler Benz has a lot of money available for R&D to spend on product design and materiel processes and a lot of racing experience. When even Alfa is cranking out a carbon fiber tub sports car, one might hope that Mercedes could give its customers a better surprise, yes? Maybe they should have at least looked at a 70's Maserati Merak and said hey, lets do a modern version of that mid engine 2+2 with a CF tub and a 450hp+ engine. But Noooooo. Oh well. If they want to build a German Corvette or a better German F type apparently nothing is going to stop them from. Bon chance Mercedes. They will sell, but to really capture 911 owners they will have to do better than that.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

Rumor from the Ring from my P source-AMG GT 520ps is with street tires as fast on the Ring as 991.2T(yes! 991.2T) with Michelin Cups.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

That is a terrific lap time.  Since Mercedes is known for their "honesty" on all lap times we might be able to look forward to even better lap times for this 'Ring monster! indecision  With 'Ring specific tire, drive train calibrations and suspension set ups its hard to trust any manufacturer any more. Front engine street cars, please! Just saying....

Little bit too much AMG bashing Jim? We all know that you do not like AMG GT. Do you really need to express that opinion in every post in this thread?

Even my P source who actually works for P expressed his highest respect for AMG GT. But, he is open minded person...

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

Nothing personal and I like Mercedes and AMG. But if Mercedes is going to make a 911 competitor they really should and not just say they are when they really are not.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Chiuso

Btw, official power of AMG GT M178 engine is 510ps.

Smiley A GT with two seats only is...very well said...a "sized down" SLS and not a 911 competitor.

Also, we need to wait for the price tag. I kind of have the feeling that the GT will be indeed a 911 competitor...when it comes to the (in my opinion pretty steep, especially when you add options) 911 prices. Smiley

I like the AMG brand but if the 510 hp GT version costs over 90k EUR base price, this car wouldn't be interesting for me.

For a base price of 90k or slightly lower, the GT could become quite an interesting product.

    €90.000? How can this be?

    The basic SL(300+hp)  costs €100.000 and the SL500 (400+hp)  €120.000.

The 500+HP and more special AMG GT should be just below the price of the Turbo (non-S) but I expect more standard equipment.

I don't have a clue about the price tag of the (510 hp) base? model.

The new GT is not the SLS and if Mercedes wants to sell tons of GT, they need not only to downsize the car (which they did) but also the price tag. 90k EUR as a base price would be ideal, the C63 AMG 507 edition has a 85k EUR base price.

The SL is a different type of car (and it is a roadster) with an already established customer base, the GT is a new model and it is still a coupe with a possible(?) roadster variant in the future.

I am actually pretty sure that the GT will start at over 120k EUR but I hope I am wrong. If Mercedes wants to attack Porsche with their 911, they have to do better. Since the rear seats are missing, they need to catch potential 911 customers with the price tag. Let's see how this works out for them.

Quite frankly, I would get the F-type Coupe over the GT any time if the price difference is huge. The F-type Coupe may not be as fast on the track but it would actually offer the same fun for less money. Individuality (there will be tons of GT on German roads at some point but not so many F-type Coupe) included for free.

It is AMG production model. NOT something like A45 AMG...

Base price will be around €120K in Germany with excellent standard equipment. Actually, option list is pretty short... Full optioned 510ps version will be around €135K with Ceramic brakes. IMHO a pretty good offer since it won't be made in 991 numbers quantity wise.

    Weight?

Still not a 911 competitor I'm afraid. Mercedes will learn that pretty soon.

Better power to weight ratio then on your 991TS. Not good enough?

I have pretty much all info about AMG GT but, can not post it yet... Excellent front engine sportcar IMO. And according to internal memo that I got aimed to new costumers that want something excellent. There won't be a facelift of AMG GT, car will stay the same in its production life. Later it will get special Black version. AMG took pretty different approach here.

To repeat it is not aimed to usual 991 costumer who actually do not care too much about performance but to brand exclusivity.

Will I get one? For sure.
