Great write-up Futch, what an addition again. Best of all is you got to share it with likeminded friends, well done! wink

Curious, if you'd ever get the opportunity, what you'd think of the P1 as a driving experience.

Congratulations Futch! I am curious to know what was behind your decision to take red one over black? Possible resale value in future?

Awesome. Yours is the first owner review I've seen of it. Sound like you had a lot of fun. I agree, kind of a bummer that the boot is so small. I'm a big road trip person. My suggestion is to just cram the boot full of underwear and do a lot of laundry. One pair of jeans/shorts, a few tshirts, and a bunch of underwear is how I'd do it!

So, did you do the honorable thing among friends and draw straws for choice of cars? ;)

Re: Ferrari F70 mule spied! (So much less camouflage)

Great write-up Futch! Congrats with that extraordinary car.

@Futch: Congratulations for acquiring this marvelous car. The car is fit for a collector and GT driver like yourself.

I remember that you passed the 918 by and you went for the Ferrari instead.

It would be great if you had a chance to drive the Porsche and the McLaren now, that you have the LF and give us your valid comparison.

Great write up! In your first pic it looks like the F12 is quite large compared to the LaF, is that the case or does it just seem so in photos? Congrats! wink

    Comparative Width:

    LF: 1992mm

    F12:1940mm

    P1:1946mm

    918:1940mm

    Cheers guys,

Yes that is true on the picture! In reality the car is not that big, it's quite long and the rear three quarter view makes parallel parking difficult but the rear camera is excellent. It's so precise and sensitive you can place it easily on the road, contrary to the much softer F12. Both cars are pretty big compared to say, a 911. The F12 is definitely fatter than the Laf, I wouldn't say it's bigger.

Color wise, I thought of black but then saw the car in red with black roof and it really suits it, classic colours and the lines are so cool. However, today I drove the car back to London and the attention it attracts is scary. Everybody take pictures, which is fine, people love it, but then I was followed by another ferrari and when I parked on the street, some guys (all nice) started taking pictures and next thing I know, my mates send me pics from the web telling me, hey buddy, you car is online! Fuck!!!! Now with mobile internet, privacy is a major problem. Maybe in this instance, black would have been better.

Since I followed your ordering process, I remember you mentioned privacy issue as one of reasons for picking black color. That`s why I assumed you changed your mind about color in favor of better resale value...

No no not at all, purely based on aesthetics. Red is strikingly beautiful on that car, it has awesome lines. That front is pure aggression, the curve behind the front wheel arch is gorgeous, the back is reminiscent of the P4, black would have been more discreet but would have hidden the lines.

Resale is not in the plans at all, this is definitely a keeper, it's an instant classic, like the F40, the Carrera GT, etc.

I have actually been offered an 80% premium!!! This is nuts!

Re: Ferrari F70 mule spied! (So much less camouflage)

You know, even in black, it's still pretty hard to miss a LaFerrari. Nothing else have the same look, you will never be 'undercover' driving one of those, so you might as well get a colour that you like.

I must disagree. Black would hide the lines just as it will with your 918. Black is an elegant color but it is used to hide lines and weight whether it is a person or a car. Red for the LaF is perfect just as liquid silver would be on the 918.

However, one needs to get what he/she wants and not be concerned of what others think.kiss

Re: Ferrari F70 mule spied! (So much less camouflage)

LOL, no way any color is going to make an LF blend in. The car is crazy looking and everyone knows what it is, not to mention the sound it will make on the somewhat streets of London.

Re: Ferrari F70 mule spied! (So much less camouflage)

Your combo Is the good one for the laferrari. Usually i dislike black wheels but after seing a black /red laferrari in cannes last week With black wheels i have to say It matches perfectly the bicolor scheme.

do You have consider this option ?

congrats You have a such beatiful  car !

I must disagree smiley Red for LaF is perfect, because that car screams look at me! On other side, 918 is complete oposite - its designed with more classic, I dare to say timeless lines. That is the reason why black suits 918 amazingly.

A successful shape looks good in any colour and is pleasing to the eye regardless.

The 918, like the 911 are not colour sensitive at all.

Of the rest this also applies to the to the Huracán. Look it even looks good in this colour scheme:
