    Re: Dino update

Love the brown ! and I could also imagine a matching interior kiss

    ISUK:

Nocciola is an original Dino colour. From the group of people who have seen the bumper in person it is currently ahead in the poll.

Original, it might be but too much of a  luxury colour for the Dino, to my eyes. OTOH, if you do it, it might be almost unique as I don't think many Dinos were made in this colour.

    Another image in Blu.

If going for Nocciola I will have a tan interior with Daytona seats with black inserts like this car. The colour balance is off in these photo's but it gives an idea.

Hats off to your meticulous restoration. The effort you put into the details is remarkable! In the above picture, it is great to see a contemporary Ferrari wheel lurking through the opening in the bonnet.

The Dino is, to me, the less flamboyant yet more sporty way of experiencing the spirit of Ferrari. I favor the solid paint options on this car far more than the metallic ones. I find blue to be a far more timeless color than brown, especially in those metallic hues. My mother´s car is in brown metallic and, although seeing this car very seldom, I rather grew tired of it. The appeal of a brown car is rather limited, a blue one will be nice to look at in 10 or 20 years as well. So, after all, I think I have to go with Regino´s recommendation above.

    Re: Dino update

Iain, as always you never tire us with your cars. Keep the spirit. As for the color, I would argue you will have a tough choice ahead of you. not sure which I would favor as I like both. Good luck in deciding.

    Re: Dino update

nocciola for me .. classicly elegant, visually lovely and not too look at me

    brown is in again!

    Re: Dino update

Nocciola is my favourite as it is a very period colour so watch this space   It is a fantastic colour for the shape of the car as it reflects light extremely well. I think the GT looks good in solid, non-metallic colours but the GTS looks better in metallics due the much heavier looking sail panel behind each door.

The blue is lovely and much nicer IMHO than any of the blues Ferrari offer on the current range. It is much more contemporary colour though. My dealer is currently working on a 246 in this colour and everyone there has said I should paint my GTS in Nocciola so it's interesting hearing other reactions.

    Re: Dino update

If the friend has blue/white I would for sure go for another color!

    Re: Dino update

hmm, you make sense about the black. I guess I'm just too used to sunny caribbean climate.

I put my vote in for the blue as I think it would highlight the restoration much better than the brown. I feel like mo matter how well restored it is that colour will always make the car "seem" old. Don't know if I'm getting my point across on that one. OTOH the original green is enticing even if only to make sure you have 2 of only 8. Kind of an achievement on it's own to have 25% of all the dinos ever shipped to the UK in that colour.

How does that work when you lend your car for a shoot like this, do the give you the pictures in a nice frame or so?

    Re: Dino update

I did the driving of my car for the shoot Joost and have been given around 62 photo's from it. Unfortunately Ferrari own the copyright so I cannot post any of them here but I will have some printed so I can hang them on my study walls.

    Re: Dino update

No, I understand you can'post them, but it's very nice you've been given these pictures!
Must feel like "the crown on your work" as we say in dutch. That is; a recognition of all the time and effort you've put in the restauration of these classical beauties.

    Re: Dino update

My GTS has also been painted and I went with my original choice of Nocciola and am so pleased I did as it looks sensational in the metal IMHO..... both period retro and very elegant at the same time. It is by far the best colour I have seen yet for enhancing the curves on a 246, especially the GTS which can look heavy around the C pillar sail panels in solid colours. The way Nocciola reflects light makes this area almost look delicate.

Wow Iain you should feel very proud of all the hard work you put into getting everything just right. Great recognition, and very well deserved. The Nocciola is again proof that you have great taste. Yet again I was sceptical when you mentioned a colour choice but it turns out looking stunning ! can't wait to see the finished product. Again congrats on your fantastic projects.

    Re: Dino update

Wow, what a special color.. I bet not many of those ever came out of the factory. Nice project again wink

    Re: Dino update

This is the interior materials that will be going into the GTS next week. The beige (tan) leather is the original Connoly Vaumol that was fitted by Ferrari to these cars when new and the rust brown coloured carpet is a perfect match to the factory original. The trim guy I'm using had a full set of original carpets he removed from a Dino around 25 years ago but has kept stored ever since so we were able to match it really well even down to the colour of the vinyl used for the edging. The seats will have "Daytona" insert strips in the original heat stitched vinyl which I sourced from a great little company in Sussex.

    DSC03105.JPG

The Nocciola paint really sparkles in sunshine. These photo's were taken back at the beginning of April when the sun was not particularly strong/bright.
