    Re: Thoughts on this build?

    Leawood911:

He is 33 and has money to buy these cars?  Of course the 911 TTS is the choice BUT guess what - his girlfriend would prefer the boring 4-door which makes him look un-available.  Here is my surprised face :-0!!!

Run to the Dealership and trade the M5 AND the GF for the 911 TTS, enjoy life and the car for the next 10 years!  That 911 Turbo passenger seat is meant to be a revolving door for hot chicks for at least a decade!  Then think about marriage.  I'm 50 now and finally found the right one - AND I get to keep the Turbo 911.  Think outside the box and the life sentence.  (perhaps RC is starting to get why his wife prefered the PTTS, lol).

PS - The spec is nuts with sprinkles!  Cut the BS expensive options and get her a nice four door Sonata so she can have her family car with a fraction of it and a college education for your first four kids with the rest of that leather and carbon mess. (If you feel so strongly about her that you don't trade her, lol)

Lol I'm going to assume there was a lot of sarcasm sprinkled into this response.  :)  Already found the perfect girl, now just looking for the perfect car.  :)

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

    Leawood911:

Obviously the only way to judge his spec and give him correct advice is to see pictures of his girlfriend.  Sorry for not thinking of this sooner!  What are her specs?Smiley

    Perfection.  :)

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

How about a 05/06 manual or 07/08 Ferrari 612? Rear space is great (fits adults), umbrella stroller fits in the back, great drive, very exclusive yet not too flashy since most people don't know what it is, Ferrari said they will update the radio system to carplay for a fee of course (something Porsche has never ever done or thought about...). Maintenance is higher than Porsche but not crazy either, and the car has more or less depreciated a lot so it is a good value, and among Ferrari enthusiasts it is becoming one of the loved classics for the durability and practicality along with the emotions of a V12 Ferrari...

I own a 612 and a California and the latest will not work for an infant... The 612 might however...

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

Hmm what makes you say the Cali will not work for an infant?  I saw it has the hooks to put a baby seat back there...?

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

PS.  I've never been a fan of the 612's looks personally, but I know a lot of Ferrari guys who love them!  Just not me.  :(

Also here in the US Porsche has 0 maintenance and Ferrari has 7 years.  I found that to be interesting.

The new California is actually an interesting alternative and maybe be what you are looking for. No matter what you do, do NOT get the Panamera Turbo S at your age, this is just insane. Unless of course you feel comfortable in this car, take a test-drive before you make either choice.

Perhaps the Maserati four door - it should have CarPlay.

I think the California T may be just right. CarPlay is an interesting feature and yes, I'm an Apple fan myself, so I can relate.

Cheers!  I test drove the Gran Turismo the other day and while it sounded nice the interior felt like it was from 10 years ago... the navigation was super old, and it was an automatic (not a dual clutch).  The Quattroporte could be an interesting alternative but I feel like the Panamera would be better than the Maserati.  If only the FF wasn't so crazy expensive!

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

There is not enough room to put a rear facing infant seat in the back. You can try though... Front facing for 2y and older works.

Yes, the FF is an interesting choice, so is the F12 but maybe a used car?! Smiley

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

Used FF are around $250k. Can't deal with the rear design though. Too much.

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

If I'm going to spend low 200s I don't think it could be on a used car... The F12 is SICK but way too expensive for me.  Also a new one takes 36+ months in Atlanta these days.

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

Look again at the 612... Its design is aging very very well...

    Thanks for clarifying! :)

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

That's why I got the 612 in the first place... Now I don't want to sell it anymore. It's just too good for what it is worth (manual 612) and very rare, less than 100 total in USA...

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

    Get what YOU want.

If a PTTS make you happy, go for it.

This is what I am worried about. I took the same path and yes, the PTTS made me happy...for a while. Until I realized how much I miss a 911 and how wrong this car is for me. I remember telling my wife that I may reconsider driving a Panamera...when I'm 60. Smiley

That's why they make the Executive models.

That makes more sense. The dangers of skimming and joking...

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

Looks like the Cali T (with marginal but reasonable options) will weigh in about $60K more than the 911 Turbo S (which would be fully loaded).  So that may just be too expensive for what I'm willing to spend on a car that is a daily driver.

So you guys are thinking 911, huh?  Okay, do some more convincing/nudging... :)

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

I wouldn't spend the money on a 991 turbo. Not really worth it. Stick with an S...

Why is that SciFrog?  Curious to hear your thoughts.  BTW, if you option them similarly it's about what a 40K difference?

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

Do they have to be specced exactly the same? Do you really need PCCB?

    Re: Thoughts on this build?

So I'm finally going to see the Cali T in person tomorrow in NYC... I'm thinking this is going to be the car I'm going to order.

Just saw a $401K sticker 2012 FF for sale for $230K... but it's already under contract.  That could have been a cool car for 10 years!
