    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Agree with Macca, one thing to consider is with the full exhaust you might loose warranty. When I check with my dealer changing the center exhaust was ok from a warranty stand point. I am also interested ultimately by the full akrapovic or cargraphic only if the header and bypass muffler have no issue with warranty. Now that it got extended by a year, I really don't feel the immediate need. A friend with a 997 fairly brand new turbo got his engine in flame and it burned everything  in the engine bay, cost 50k and neither Porsche not tech art want to bare the cost. So at the end for couple of more HP and db I am not sure it is worth it, especially with the extra noise of the full system. With previous 997 RS and full akrspovic exhaust some cars were not allowed in SPA

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Some news on the engine swap. Yesterday I was invited for the presentation of the 918 and discuss with my contact. So basically, after the engine is changed the dealer has to send to Porsche all the number, chassis, engine, so that the car will be matched. They will also do this to the authorities so it won't be seen as a replacement engine. So you need to count some extra days unless they release it to you before the admin has been completed, that it don't know.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Same is being done in the Uniyed States.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

The engine swap barely started according to my information, so it could take quite some time longer than expected.

There are supposed to let us know this week (I am not holding my breath) when our engines will be replaced. At the pace this is going I do not expect to see my car until October/November. I have no idea nor told as to why this is taking so long.

The communication from Porsche on this fiasco has been nothing short of abysmal.

Sick of reading all the threads on 3 forums in parallel.....I now stopped being driven insane by the cat and mice game of PAG....just bought a pre-owned GT3 RS to play with.....this should shorten the (still) unknown waiting time.....finally looking forward to the Track Day season ahead....as happy Cat B owner.....;-))

    Hello

Any news? The 991 GT3 is back on road?
I've heard from a dealer that they haven't received all the pieces from Porsche and so they can't finish to swap the engines...? :(

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Great to see, that the first engines being changed atm. Hopefully you guys don't have to wait that long any more and can drive the GT3 as soon as possible. kiss

Something, that is not about engines: Just found the 918 seat option on the German GT3 price list, probably available for MY 2015 cars.

Also the pre production car Chris Harris drives here has the 918 seat fitted on driver's side.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Igirl, not yet as mentioned when the dealer gets the engine he has to order separately about 40 parts, etc screw, everything that gets undone is replaced by a new part. This what they found out last Friday. Mine engine is supposed to arrive tomorrow will see but I think I will get it next week due to testing and admin, will for sure let you know.

Ah yesterday I sat in the 918 with the club sport package and to be honest the only two things I would take are the steering wheel and central console. I prefer the GT3 seats...1400014020221image.jpg

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Very surprising news about your dealer needing to order parts for the engine swap.  Porsche should have developed, and sent, a complete kit for undertaking the engine swap.  This is a significant oversight and does not bode well for the quality of the update.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Sorry 3 things the paddle shift were in carbon that was really nice. The most amazing part was they the car left from the hotel and for not disturbing guest they went on the electric mod, quit amazing. Funny enough one owner of not yet deliver 918 came with his La Ferrari, quite impressive

Well, my dealer told me that they are receiving the different pieces in several packages... So it's not "1 box = 1 engine with everything for it together". :(

It is very sad when General Motors is starting to look like a model of manufacturing and service efficiency when compared to Porsche. Smiley 22

Smiley You guys really think that Porsche is something special regarding service quality?  It's just the same crap as with other manufactures like BMW / Audi / VW and so on.

Perfect way to egg on Porsche's face for the endless delays. Had I have one I would have done the same thing.

Why shouldn't one expect a higher level of service for a $150,000+ automobile versus a $20,000 one?  It is foolish to expect a customer to compromise and accept inferior service.  Lexus is proof of that.

I was treated quite poorly by a Nissan dealer when the GT-R first came out.  Bye-bye and thanks for nothing.

Of course I have to admit that I am not a regular customer.

Oh no, I have woken up Eduardo...

My deepest and sincerest apologies for the use of the word bulletproof. It was not to be taken literally nor were I kidding. The GT3 RS is certainly not bulletproof. It is not built for combat.

I guess when you talk about IMS you mean the normal 996-997 engine (has been beaten to death)..996/997 GT3 engines dont have IMS problems as they dont have it!!

Yes..996 and more 997 had their littls gremlins as well..but at least they didnt have get all a new engine and were waiting 3 months..keeping in mind that the 991 GT3 was presented in March 2013 at geneva..we have to wait 2-3 years more to make a valid comparisin..but for me its clear: 997 GT3: 1..991 GT3:0..if it now proves to be the most reliable track car ever..and fast..then it will be for sure in 5 years : 991 Gt3: 2 - 997 GT3 : 1...but were not there yet..

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

    Guys,

I think I am one of the rare and lucky persons to have its 991 GT3 back!

Do not ask me how I did it.
I just can tell you that I had strong and hard discussions with Porsche and my dealer.
    Nothing was easy.
But, at the end, they made it.
My baby is finally here and I will spend all my WE with it! :)

Keep faith. Good luck to the other owners.
And do not try to find a logic between the car delivery and engine swap dates...
