it is incredible in my eyes that football players earn so much , for what they do 100k should be the max per year.

    Re: F1 pilot's salary

I actually admire the management of some of the highly paid F1 drivers and soccer players.

Personally, I couldn't care less how much everyone earns as long as it doesn't come out of my own pocket. indecision

Btw: A couple of days ago, I read that a well known hedge fond manager "makes" 10 Mio. USD per day. So...

The salary they pay their drivers is not a disaster, they are earning it, especially Alonso who is finishing above of what the car deserves... the disaster is the salary they are paying their engineers responsible for developing the car the last years Smiley

What is the point of employing a top driver if all the rest doesn't work properly? Any driver, no matter how good, cannot win the title in a bad car. At the most an odd race win, a few podiums and some heroic battles.

Ferrari is throwing money away and at the same time the drivers miss out on other promising opportunities.

it's something like Villareal paying Ronaldo or Messi  €20 million knowing that anyone of them alone cannot win La Liga for them. The difference is that in football top players refuse to join inferior teams.

No where in my reply did I ever mention the drivers being the issue at Ferrari.  Ferrari has recruited what the sport believes are two of the most qualified drivers and the team can's perform.

Only 16 years old and rumoured to replace Vergne next season. Max Verstappen, son of ex-F1 driver Jos Verstappen. Too early in my opinion, but without a doubt one of the biggest talents around. He just signed for the Red Bull junior team.

    Re: F1 pilot's salary

22M for all three drivers at the top? Too much of a coincidence. Looks to me like there is collusion here.

Our fearless Attorney General, Eric Holder, should take advantage of the upcoming US Grand Prix and sue the constructors and that F1 robber baron Ecclestone, for colluding to keep drivers' salaries down. He should also do something about those poor souls at the bottom of the list who are obviously underpaid given the risks they take and the entertainment value they provide; I'm thinking a minimum F1 salary that should provide a living wage.

You also need Sharpton and Jessie Jackson there to 'raise' money from Bernie.  (how did he get into Austin without paying them off?)

    Re: F1 pilot's salary

I hope he can handle the pressure of F1 at such a young age. I don't think I could have handled equivalent pressures despite the fact that I was a sensible and very diligent student at that age. I guess it helps having a father who has been through it before ... plus today's kids are streetwise at a much younger age than in my time.
