Is the XX street legal? If not, the time is irrelevant.
All XX are non road legal. They are specialized track version, in other words, tuned track car.
But at least Ferrari reclaimed the non legal car lap time title from Zonda R, who was ahead of the 599XX

Its a great strategy come on guys. You get the regular LaF for the road and then the XX for the track - perfect!

There's no indication that this is an XX. Just speculation.
Anyway, somehow this car reminds me of something...
Hm, wait, let's see, does it come from a small village of indomitable gauls?
Asterix, Obelix, LaFerrarixx. Got it.

This is a standard LaFerrari and is shod with semi slick, road tyres. Publications like to make things up...

Then why the perspex side window with the mail-slot opening?

That is indeed a no cost option for the "regular" LaFerrari. This car has no different aero appendages, wears road legal tyres, makes exactly the same sound as every other LaFerrari and last but not least, has license plates!!! Ergo, it is NOT an XX version.

That's a paper license plate... It looks to be printed on two pieces of paper and stapled together!
Obviously it is a provisional plate, showing the car's registration number. You don't just print random letters and numbers on a piece of cardboard and roam the roads!!! Keep in mind that this is a factory car and de Simone is behind the wheel on a german public road. It is self evident that it is road legal.

There are possibilities to use a not road legal car (not TÜV approved) on public streets in Germany (rotes Kennzeichen / red number plates). Suppliers or manufacturer can use those plates for testing. A friend uses this way to use his old BMW racecar once or twice a year for a little Sunday morning ride (even crossing the border to Austria).
I don’t know if this selfmade number plate is the Italian version of our “rotes Kennzeichen”.
Those plates are not allowed at the Nürburgring on public days.

That is the Italian "Targa Prova" , temporary number plate which allows manufacturers and/or dealers to drive the cars without registering them. I wonder whether it is valid out of Italy since theoretically you should not drive more than 100 km out of the province where the plate has been released.
Anyway, since the XX versions are not road legal, this car is clearly not an XX model. You can also hear its sound on the videos below. It makes the same sound as any other LaFerrari.
