Any updated numbers on how many have been sold?
There won't be hard numbers, best estimate is they are down to the last 200.
Right now all new orders will be a Dec-Jan build slot and later. Taking away the August holiday that leaves about 30 weeks worth of production, they will make 4 a day so 20 cars a week, so that's about 600 cars already scheduled.
We also know Porsche built the special buyers cars first out of sequence, one source told me that number is about 100. Those orders were finished around mid March and the actual production for regular customers starts after.
So when I was at the factory, #35 was just finished, #42 should be done by last Friday and adding the 100 before and 10 this week that means about 120-130 orders, taking into account some of the special ones could be within the initial 50 sequence numbers.
Roughly 720-740 cars sold then?
Close enough for you?
Thanks for the update. If they don't sell them all do you believe it will have an impact on resale value like it did with the CGT? I believe Porsche subsidized several CGT in Europe to meet their production goal and help stabilize resale values.
Porsche is almost at the point where they can ask every dealer to sell 1 additional car to fill all 918 orders. Well not quite all dealers , but the high volume premier ones.
Those last 50 or so could be the key. If those dealers decided to fire sale those in order to not get stuck with a car, then the resale will take a hit. Those dealers are the one responsible on how the initial resale value will be.

Fearing that the unveiling of a small SUV like Macan may turn out to be a boring event for the UK public, Porsche dispatched three of the most important cars in its history to show up at the event and keep the guests amused. They were Porsche 917, 918 Spyder and 919 Hybrid.

It's had a LCD screen inside that plays 2 videos.
Under the folio with a personal letter is a really nice pen, a fountain pen. Numbered just like my car
Under the pen layer there is another surprise
A diary to document personal experiences on the 4 events, which were the Cannes Film Festival, Le Mans, Singapore F1 and a trip to Miami.
The trips are not free, but Porsche has arranged everything for each trip, dinner on a yacht, helicopter ride to St Tropez, even a jet fighter ride to the Bahamas.
Those Germans, they REALLY think of everything, below the event layer there is another layer with a usb charge cable for the battery for the LCD screen, just so I can enjoy the video anytime I want.
I am thoroughly impressed.

Glad you liked your little gift.
Just last weekend, for the very first time, I was thinking about getting a 918. Seriously. Not that I can really afford this car but what the heck, this happens once in a lifetime. Then my wife brought me back to my (reality) senses but my short thoughts about getting one actually proved to me how impressed I am with the 918.
Well...maybe in the next life.
