    Dynamic Cornering Lights (603)

    Wondering if any 997.2 owners have ordered the Dynamic Cornering Lights, option #603?
    If yes, what are your impressions? Is it worth the $690 upgrade?

    Sure it's functional, but is it really needed? I think it's another gizmo piling up weight.

    They seem ridiculous and unnecessary to me. Weight and complexity to "solve" a problem I've never had.

    it gives the look of the facelift,different from "normal" without double front lights

    That's what I wanted to say. Difference in the dark may not be that dramatic, but the dual lights give the front of the car quite a different look (depends on you if you like it).

    Yupp - see the same. Its just about having different front lights to see the facelift!

    BTW - did anyone see a picture without those lights yet? Are they the same as the pre-facelift?

    The car I testdrove for one weekend didn't have the new option. Here's a pic of its front lights:

    FWIW, here's how BMW's system works. Maybe assume Porsche's is very similar? Judge for yourself if there's a significant safety enhancement.

    IMO, any costly Porsche option which improves _safety_ is worth it. Sorry to put it this way but: How much would you pay to go back in time if you hit a deer or worse?

    I have them on my FL.... I think they are quite good. However the advantage is very minimal when driving in the dark. Would i order them again ? Probably not !

    I have them on my Volvo. I will not be paying for them on my new 911. Very little improvement over the already terrific HD lights on the Wagon, I would expect the same on the new 911.

    Exactly with the Xenon lights on the 911 i have found these to have minimal benefit for the cost. Better extras to spend the money on !!!

    Yeah, just as unnecessary as the S engine, lowering 20mm, custom interior, heck as unnecessary as a 911 when a KIA will get you from A to B.

    You should not lose credibility confusing apples and oranges. There are degrees of importance among the various options you know?

    It's fun to blow money. Get the lights, enjoy the gadgets. Just stay away from choosing options which make the interior look like a cluttered window display for small appliances at Neiman Marcus.
