    Sorry if repost

Boy that dark blue metallic looked so good, it's making me second guess my colour choice...........

In my opinion, the best colors for the 918 (looking at them for not only 3-4 minutes in a video) are black, saphire blue and rhodium silver. Silver especially when going for the Weissach package.

@RC Did anyone ordered 50k Liquid Metal Chrome Blue with 918 so far

Last time I had a chat with the 918 specialists back in November, there are 'more than 10' for that colour.

At certain angle and lighting condition, it looks quite good in person, that colour doesn't photograph well. But it's basically Mercedes' diamond silver.

It is "only" 5% of the price of the car...

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

The dark blue would undoubtedly be my choice. It's so classy, dark enough to get the lines but something more than black (though it does look great in that when pristine clean).

That's one of looking at it. But still it's a ridiculous amount of money to spend on paint.

Main trouble with Black is you miss many of the intricate design details (as the owner of three black cars, I'm biased!) so I'd go for a lighter hue personally.

I think I said this before but IMO this is the best picture of the 918 I've seen so far.

Sport Auto is already testing the car, there are tons of those running on the streets with factory drivers testing, the car is all over the newspapers, jounalist from all over the world have already tested and clients still don´t have their cars to enjoy Smiley Smiley Is it me or Porsche is going crazy!!!! I can confirm for one customer delivery on 20.04.2014.

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

They better do all that to sell half the production that is not sold yet angry

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

There are times when i think Porsche has the greatest customer service and there are times when I feel like nuking their headquarters for incompetence.

Today is one of the later.

I am leaving for my trip tomorrow night, I had been asking them one simple question for over a month, is my car going to be on the floor when I get there. Today I finally got a reply. "We don't know sirmail

My order was freezer back in January for a 'February' production, Then I got word that production has finally started in 'March'. They seems to have lost my order/car in the system, no knows knows the status.

This is the 21st century, everything is run on the computer and it only takes a minute to look up the database in order to know. Not like they are running on pencil and paper and they have lost the sheet somewhere.

There is only a tiny amount of 918 orders compared with the other productions, plus the production line should have been all lined up one order after the other, even if Porsche uses papers to keep track of orders, it'll only takes like an hr to flip through the pile.

They are Germans for christ sake, one of the most organized people in the world where almost everything is planned down to the seconds. I mean if they were Italians, I would not be pissed if they didn't know any details.

I am giving them until the moment I step into the cabin tomorrow night to give me a proper answer, or else I think the CEO is going to get an earful from me when I see him.

Well Whoopsy, I almost have a feeling there is a disconnect between the big pond. I bet on the German side things are moving along, it is very organized over there indeed. But, I get the feeling that the North America representatives often are sub par with the ongiongs of the HQ and perhaps not fully organized on their end. It's a brand new dealership that opened in Vancouver in recent months, I bet they are scrambling to get it running and oiled still.

I hope that a higher up from Germany will contact you, you should almost ask for that.. sort of like "can I speak to your manager" Good luck, im crossing my fingers for summer weather for you!

Delay is irritating, but not to worry.  First customer cars will go to Porsche family and Middle East investors. First U.S. cars will arrive (via air if requested) in early May.

Be a bit careful about pressing too hard with high Porsche folks. At the 918 level, it is a small company...

Very strange. At a minimum they should be able to tell you the status of your 1m car.

FWIW, I don't believe there is a German word for "surprise".Smiley Not in their DNA. Everything is by the book which makes your situation all the more frustrating.

If your car was not going to be being built while there would you still go?

That's my initial reaction. German's don't even know what the word surprise means. But then again I am not about to pass up the opportunity to drive the 918 at Porsche's Weissach track and visit the 918 factory even if my car is not on the floor.

Anyway, I am in London right now and taking the next flight over to Stuttgart, appropriately numbered BA918 haha.

I should get more info from the Germans in the next 24hrs.

Finally at Stuttgart. What a lovely city! Nice and quiet.

Porsche sent a Panamera e-hybrid as transport, but surprisingly, I didn't see a lot of Porsche on the road, including the car I was in I only saw 3 total.

That can be explained in that you're in Stuttgart, not Rich-Person-opolis ;)

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

The German word for surprise is Überraschung. Usually, German surprises are unpleasant ones, so you don't really want them.

You haven't seen many Porsche? Well...the public opinion regarding Porsche drivers isn't the best for various (prejudicial) reasons, so many wealthy people own a Porsche for weekends or special occasions and drive in their regular BMW, Mercedes or whatever "normal" car to work. I told you before that I had a friend, he is a dentist, who I knew for over two years, incl. various visits to his house before I actually found out that he owns a Porsche.

If you want to see Porsche cars, you need to drive to Zuffenhausen, Ludwigsburg and Weissach. Plenty of Porsche cars over there.

Have fun and enjoy your trip. blush

P.S.: Regarding the status of your car, I just think they are polite. They don't want to say no to you. Smiley

I am pretty sure that once you are "there", they will be able to give more details. Maybe even a little surprise, hopefully of the nice kind.

Do you think the Macan will rank as "normal" in Germany, for everyday use or there will still be prejudice because of its badge?

    Enjoy Woopsi.

I saw the car that clinched it for me last year at Weissach on my trip to Germany.

Weissach 918 in liquid silver fully loaded.

I ordered it in that spec with most options.....Delivery due June.

Sure you will see great things during your visit.

I actually think that the Macan has good chances to be perceived as an entry level Porsche. Some may say the owner(s) couldn't afford a Cayenne but this is actually a good thing because in a way or another, the Macan will not create the same envy sentiments as the Cayenne in my opinion. It is also actually a good thing that the Macan Turbo looks almost the same as the Diesel, so... Smiley I would love to see more differentiation but I guess Porsche knows what they are doing. Just yesterday, I saw that Cayenne Turbo S again which I was supposed to get (instead of the Jeep SRT) from that guy who wanted to get a Panamera Turbo S instead. The Cayenne looked like a Diesel, despite the PCCB brakes. Very stealth in black and without the Sport Design package. So you never know if the owner paid 70k EUR for the Diesel or 170k for the Turbo S. Smiley

It is actually sad that people need to hide wealth but the media has done a marvelous job in making people believe that everyone who does a little bit better in life is a tax cheater, a criminal or similar. Bravo.
