    I would definitely get my 918 in white but since I cannot afford one, I would probably settle with any color if the car would be free. smiley

    Wonderful product from Porsche, this is actually my current dream (sports) car. 

    I am so filled with joy when reading that some people here in the forum are getting one, just can't wait for the first driving and owner experience reports and of course many many many wonderful photos.  blush

    918 has grown on my a lot. Even though it lost some cool concept touches, in silver from the side and rear it looks very contemporary and cool. Front is still a bit boring, but could live it with.

    Looks like shit in white though. Silver looks best so far.

    Exactly like that because in the real world it will look more like the dirty one parked outside that house and have way less contrast.  It's like a storm trooper outfit in the movies and one in real life. Just doesn't look so cool and fancy in the flesh. I guess I haven't actually seen it in the flesh yet with white, but that's been my experience with these white/black looks.

    The back straight at the Circuit of the Americas is 1.2 km long, and according to the link below, not quite straight.

    I did a McLaren track day there last November, sponsored by McLaren of North America and Park Place McLaren (Dallas, TX).  They provided several McLaren 12c's and some great instructors.  I was fortunate to get David Donahue for my instructor that day.  I saw 160 mph on that same straight, while in a hot lap with David driving we did much more.  COTA is the best track in the U.S. to drive anything fast.  A great track.

    This track day at COTA must have happened recently.  Too bad I haven't put my first deposit down yet.  Maybe I'll be able to get to Birmingham, AL in a few weeks/months.

    In the Top Gear Season 21, Ep. 5, Hammond drove the 918 around Yas Marina circuit, which also has a 1.2 km straight.  At the 2:00 mark, Hammond says "280" (kph), which is about 174 mph, leaving enough room for breaking.  So, both Hammond and Patrick Long reached about the same speed on similar length straights.  I'm not sure that Hammond did his from a standing start, but Patrick was coming off turn 11 at COTA when he did his run.

     Yes, and the sharpness of the corners before and after the straight are probably the most important variables.

    I have strange feeling that none of those journalists push 918 to its REAL limits enlightened Even Chris Harris (who like to trash Porsche`s) was gentle with 918  Dont get me wrong, he was rough, but he could do better IMO.

    I want test-drive of 918 like Motorvision did with CGT. I want to see 918 on regular climb roads with lots of sun & gas pedal to the floor, not fancy (controlled) driving on closed track mail
