For now the car has a very conservative aero. If it is a final package, I am afraid, Audi will kill Porsche.
Remember that Porsche now has Jose Gallego Segura and Mark Webber (who is very good at aero work), so they are well manned in that area.

Spyder idol , have u seen 919 #14 testing at Sebring now with new aero body? The lights, roof air intake front hood and side pods look totally different from what Motorsport .com has. I don't think it will look like what we now see at Geneva
Have from the rear, the front fender it totally different. Could you please send the reference for more photos?

It is an evolution (as expected). Not a revolution.

...which is natural. You don't really want every one getting a close look at your euro package whilst the car is being displayed to the public on stage.
Also - The car presented is what they call the 2013 chassis. The one testing is the 2014 version.

Yep, totally agree, normal procedures)))
Spyderidol, how do you think why did they decide to make a mixed gearbox casing? Why not CF with Ti inserts. For what Alu?
The most interesting thing in car is - turbogenerator. Very radical decision!...

I really have no idea. I'm sure that they (Porsche) have a reason. I only hope that it is valid.
I'll be interested to see their demeanor after the Sebring tests. They should have a better idea on how the car performs in relation to the Audi (a much better looking car IMO) after this test.

Its slower, of course. Journalist pointed that fact as difference that will be noticeable for Mark (in comparison with other drivers that have no experience with F1 car).

Tyres and weight of course. Just watched incar of R18 and F1 Alonso - same speed on fast corners, little less speed in LMP1 on slow and midspeed ones, little bit longer acceleration, top speed the same.
So, yep - weight and tyres.
Very interesting to compare group C and F1. Group C was a monster on straights. But slower on lap times due to weight.

It looks so great in motion, and that V4 has a nice little growl to it! Porsche is analyzing parts while Audi is working on race simulation (http://www.racer.com/index.php/latest-stories/item/101617-audi-porsche-test-won-t-reveal-order).

I love the way the gearbox sounds and the looks are growing on me. I especially like the curve and swoop of the rear between the rear wheels. I don't think I'll ever get over the vertical stabilizer though

Oh well. It looks like the latest aero package has removed my favorite feature. LOL.

Wonderful information in this particular Forum, thanks to all.
Can anyone post when Porsche made the decision to halt the LeMans program (1998?), and why (both the "official line" and the real reasons? I am researching a long article and would love some facts and/or references to pursue.
Thanks...
P.S. I have some press kit pics of the 919 and 991 RSR, if someone wants me to post. They may be old news, but let me know...
