The V4 Turbo engine makes around 500 to 550 hp and the electric motors contribute to 250 to 300 hp.
The team has driven 1040 Km.
Not sure google translated this right but this last bit of info is scary; they reckon they are around 10 seconds too slow to be competitive!!! Are they serious?

Any one speak German can tell me if it's right?

Yes, you are right. But nobody knows its real pace and time. So I don't think you should worry now) Only the first race will show the real pace;)

Nobody should expect any serious results from porsche this year, trust meSmiley

Come on, Audi's been at it for the past 12 years and this year the Toyota will be extremly strong, what did people expect?

You can't just show up after 16 years of absence in LMP1 and expect to do well. Give them one or two seasons.

No one more than me would like to see Porsche win, I reckon 2016 should be a good target.

Have to agree with you, Futch. I want to see Porsche winnng but LMP1 tech is too much complicated to come, see and win...

First: Congratulation Futch for this year's ACO invite to Le Man's.It's good to see you racing in a Porsche again.

Second: I have decided to postpone my trip to Le Mans precisely because I do not want to see just a Porsche LMP1 car competing at Le Mans, but I want to see a Porsche victory. I don't think I could handle the disappointment  if I made the long trip and did not see them win.1392830225948cray.gif

Third: I have lowered my expectations and now  just hope that they finish the race and are not blown away by Audi and Toyota.

Re: Porsche Back in Le Mans with LMP1 2014

Porsche can come back and win outright! Its not like they don't know how to build a race car by the rules. I have all the confidence that the will win! Hardcore Porsche motorsport Fan!

Re: Porsche Back in Le Mans with LMP1 2014

Didn't that say last year's cars were 10 seconds faster? If so, isn't it understandable that this year's cars will be slower with the change in regulations?
    --

Re: Porsche Back in Le Mans with LMP1 2014

New cars will be faster. Those tests are closed, not a public ones like in F1, so nobody will tell the actual lap time.

Thanks. It will be an interesting season indeed. 8 races around the world including Le mans of course. We decided to go for the 997 RSR, much cheaper than the 991 and given the fact I only have two full seasons behing me, no point going for the superior package, yet...

But If I may, even if you're a Porsche fan and want to see them win, you should still come to Le Mans if you can, it's a race like no other!Smiley And this year promises to be spectaculer, in all categories.

Re: Porsche Back in Le Mans with LMP1 2014

I agree about Le Mans. I attended in 1999 ( the year the Mercs decided to fly) and absolutely loved it. It was a lifetime dream which I managed to partially fulfill. Unfortunately , there was no Porsche racing in the top class, and no Porsche victory.

Fortunately, SuperSport ( a South African TV channel) usually broadcasts the entire race, so (this year) I'll suffer in the privacy of my living room.

Re: Porsche Back in Le Mans with LMP1 2014

I'll be at Le Mans this year, first time for me. Really looking forward to it, and the fact that porsche will be there as well is a huge bonus. Hope they'll be able to be competitive and put up a good fight,

BTW, thanks for the pshop Milanno, really looking good, would be awesome if they could pull that off!
