    DaveC:

Just thought I'd post a picture of the voluptuous C4S rear now that the tips have been ceramic coated and the chrome badging removed.  The PORSCHE lettering is the flat black from the GT3.  Wife's 08 Boxster LE is off the the side.  photo (4).JPG

    Looking GOOD !

I can see why you walked out with her. Very beautiful, elegant, and tastefully optioned C4S. kiss

Re: Walked into dealer for a chat, walked out with new C4S

Thought I would share a couple of driving observations after a few weeks.  Just for context, I owned a 99 986, 06 987C, 09 997.2C2S Cab and wife still has her 08 987S.  The AWD system is seamless in operation and by and large the car operates as a RWD in the majority of my driving conditions. In a hard rain with wet roads (which can pop up here in S. Florida out of nowhere even in winter) the AWD becomes more active per the information screen on the instrument cluster.  So even for a non-daily driver the AWD has turned out to be a welcome addition for my local climate, not intrusive, but adding a margin of safety when most needed. I like it a lot.  There's been so much discussion about the electromechanical steering I will only add that compared to previous Porsches I've owned,  the steering remains equally precise but with an increased filtering of extraneous input and a decrease in effort at slow speeds. The steering is less fatiguing, particularly on expressway driving, and parking is less tedious. I can appreciate how some would lament the loss of the previous hydraulic system, but I really cannot fault the 991 steering as it still transmits the essential information. The PSE on the 991 is clearly more entertaining that what I had on the 997.2, particularly when closing the throttle, lots of pops and burbles which I find thoroughly entertaining. The overall ride is very well mannered and more refined than my 997.2. In "normal" mode the car is supple, firm, but never harsh. No wiggles, jiggles, or thumps on the expressway.  The SPASM does not pose any ground clearance problems, and with PASM in sport mode the car corners with a remarkable "flatness" akin to the Boxster, the lengthened wheelbase and suspension all working together harmoniously.   My example is equipped with heated and ventilated seats which actually work quite well.  It's easy to become spoiled with all the technology. I like the cruise control indicator lamp that shows my speed. The PDK in the 991 is clearly more refined, quicker shifting, and has more advanced logic capable of anticipating driver intent better than the 997.2 version. As RC said about his TurboS, sitting behind the wheel is very familar, clearly 911. The 991 does not feel any bigger than my 997.2. I very much prefer the numerous (smallish) buttons on the console to the rotary selector found on other cars. The center console is a little intrusive but its high quality finish is a compensation. This car does everything really well, adapting to my driving moods and desires better than any car I've owned. I think that this versatility maybe the 991s greatest strength.  This is very much not my father's 911, the 991 doesn't really ask the owner to make choices or sacrifices.  In many ways it's an ideal blend of sporting, touring, luxury, and usability.  Not sure one can ask for more from an automobile.  Time will tell about overall reliability, but so far, major kudos to Porsche.

kiss Congratulations again and yes, the coated exhaust pipes and the black lettering look very good. Nicely done.

Dave, I am glad you are enjoying your Carrera 4S Smiley

I suppose your car doesn't have the Power Steering  Plus option. Correct?

No just the standard steering.  Dealer was telling me in conversation that they don't specify the power steering plus on any of the sports cars.
