One of the main disadvantages to adopting a pet is they usually die before you. Knowing that before having one makes it a little easier when the time comes.
BTW, I never use "owning" a pet because it implies they are property which they are not. They are members of the family.

It is probably still better than throwing in the towel before the pet.

Sad to read those news , watt . Storm is having a hell of a good life !
We all end up there, and you are so right, Stormy got 6 free years after his major chest surgery and is so cheery and smiley no matter what. Strategically our having two 11.6 and one 12.7 year olds at one time means lots of adios but these guys are our hearts.
At least they are going before us, although we made home arrangements and bequeathments years ago in case we went first....
THE END OF AN ERA
Thanks Joost,
We are watching for pain. Stormy and Sky went to Ocean Beach in San Duego today for the first [and last] time and loved it.
I may be dying but Im still having fun
He really enjoyed his trip. God Bless Storm
As this thread is titled we expected to say goodbye to Sun first, but it was Storm today.
Last trip to the beach yesterday
The last slow trip this morning to his favourite spot in the world, Storm's Creek and the last photo of Los Tres
And laid to rest next in fine treasured company: Surf, Sandy, Star and Spike Jr. A beautiful spot for a wonderful guy. Pardon my need to complete the ritual with this post but it helps ease our hearts, God Bless you Storm!!!
Sad news captured in a beautiful story. Lovely photos watt! Thanks for sharing.
By the way, I love your dogs' names. Great choices!
Let's get dirty!

Sorry to hear this. I love your dog threads. It makes me happy to see people enjoying company of dogs as true family members. I am pretty sure from all these threads that Storm was an excellent companion, it is so visible from his face. I wish him a safe return....and I wish you the best with the rest of the pack. You are a good man..

Wendy and I send our profound thanks for all your kind thoughts from our big Porsche family.
His brother Sky and cousin Sun lay quietly right next to him on our front walkway while Dr Lisa helped Stormy to rest, right next to where he's standing...his little penguin feet from the arthritus. Such a merry soul
Better times in his favourite pool, that he visited Saturday before resting, in Storm's Creek.
5 days this week, Storm made the mile round trip to his Creek, for the first time in two months. Could be a second wind, or just a goal to do his favourite thing with us before resting. No details of his cancer, but it was truly time to rest, we were alert, it came very suddenly and we dealt with reality. It breaks our hearts but it was important to do what he needed, not what we wanted.
And the usual result: delightfully dirty and merry to boot. Let's get dirty Certainly the dirtiest merry soul in Heaven.
