The recall is probably the WD69 "coolant regulator campaign" (replace a thermostat) and/or WE09 "fastening screws for oil-water heat exchanger".  Rennteam is fine forum, but it you can also find a lot of information at the Rennlist GT3 forum (695 threads to date and over 30,00 posts).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Thank you for your impressions of the car. Love the red!

My car completion date was yesterday. If it was built (there have been a number of delays) hopefully Porsche corrected some of the bugs the earlier owners have been experiencing.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

I can confirm that my OPC told me today they will have details of the new RS around the end of the month.

In the meantime congratulations to the new owner of this beauty who picked it up from the OPC this morning - first time I have seen one in the flesh and it is lovely! :)

CH seems to be enjoying himself in the GT3. He shares his thought on Twitter:

"The 991 GT3's motor is absolutely mind-scrambling. Between 8-9k rpm it does stuff I've not experienced before"

The high revving engine is one if not the highlight of the new GT3. Absolutely mind blowing when you pass beyond 8500 rpm. Smiley I just hope that Porsche adds some turbo chargers to this engine at some point, it would be sad if it goes to waste (for two or three models only).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Does anyone have any more details about the GT3 with blown engine from RL thread "Reduced engine performance" ?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

I heard something about bad sensors and of course the fact that some owners don't seem to understand what a "run in period" or a "warm up" mean. angry Bad fuel could also be an issue in some cases when the car shows "reduced engine performance" but the engine still runs fine up to (I think?) 7000 rpm but this can also be related to a faulty engine sensor.

Also and I'm really speculating here, I get the feeling that some owners immediately did some mods on the car (exhaust system and other stuff). Electronics are highly sensitive nowadays and every faulty value can result in an ECU error.

Last but not least, there seems to be a thermostat issue but only a very limited number of cars is affected (dealer should have information).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

So it's been a very rare case for such a car to blow up at an early stage, not to mention in a PDK  car. I'm surprised the owner hasn't come up with an excuse or blame the invisible clutch pedal while downshifting from 5th to 2nd and stayed quiet the whole time pretending it was Porsche's mistake enlightened

I did notice that it takes a bit of time in GT cars for the oil temp to warm up compared to the Cayenne/Panny which is only a matter of 5mins maximum vs 10-15min in GT2/3.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

The blown engine is apparently related to the owner having his ECU flashed by an independent tuner two days after taking delivery of the car. That is the rumor.

I believe Porsche was sent the engine for inspection.

If warranty repair/replacement is refused, I wonder if the new GT3 motor will be much less expensive than the old Mezger one (was ~ $50k before).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

If Porsche finds out about the tune, he can kiss it good bye.

The problem was, the owner was acting as if Porsche delivered a car with a bad engine and wanted a refund enlightened

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

I believe he has ordered a TTS from the same dealership. They may help him with his warranty claim.

I hope the rumor is true because that last thing I want is for the GT3 engine to have problems. My car has already been built and is on its way.

Most other cars behind the GT3 are on street tires as well, but people will say you cant use that as an excuse because thats how the cars come from the factory blah blah blah.. very impressive though when compared to the 4.0 and to the previous GT3....

How much of a difference on a 1.18 minute track time between P Zeros and MCups?

Based on their testing of street performance cars over the years, the cars faster were the Radicals (which are not street cars). That is one hell of achievement.

absolutely, but if you take in consideration what Kreso said, on this particular track the fastest cars on street tires are the lambo, 12c coupe, 12c spider, 458, GTR, 991TTS, in that order. people who have autocrossed or DEed their cars know very well that low tread wear (stickier) tires like the cups or corsas etc, do make a difference even if it is in tenths of seconds. all those cars are so close to each other anyway that the difference is going to be small of course.

is this from the same test? if so, i stand corrected. the corsas can be option ordered of course on the 12c but most have street p zeros.

BTW, the GT3 got 20/20 points… and that time is pretty sick, no matter what tires were used etc…

2 Seconds faster than a Z06 on MPSC ZP and faster than the ZR1 … holy moly, take into consideration that it only has 476hp ;-) … (and as the ZR1 is much faster than the Z06, I reckon hp have a big influence on this course)
