C2S Cab C4 Cab - Review and Pics

As I had said a couple of weeks ago when trying to decide C4S Cab or C2S Cab, I finally tested the C2S and a C4 (dealer did not have a C4S for me to test).

Before anything, a little disclaimer, I am by no means an expert so my conclusions might not be correct but simply personal opinions after driving both cars.
I tested both cars in Madrid in what turned to be a really rainy weekend, can't recall this much rain in a long time.
First of all I should say to all 997 owners in the forum, What a Car!!! I think I know understand the difference between feeling fast and being fast (I currently own a 986 S 03).
I tested both cars over a period of 4 days in the streets, highways and secondary roads up a mountain. Of course the comparison is not completely fair as the C4 was not an S as opposed to the C2.

The C2S had Tip, C4 was a cabrio, manual and had PASM.
I was surprised how stable the C2S was, going up and down secondary roads with heavy rain falling down and trying to go pretty fast (for my skill) the car was incredibly noble for a RWD with so much weight behind the rear axle. In highway driving, I sure hope I was able to avoid those annoying radars!, the car was obviously fast but I could tell what others refer to as the front wheels floating or being airborne, not a scary feeling but a strange feeling that is there nonetheless. PASM, was pretty amazing, and for normal drivers a nice 2 settings to have. Driving around in Sport mode all the time is not comfortable for daily driving IMO. Yes, it is a blast when you want to have fun but cannot imagine having it on all the time or making it even harder by ticking the sport suspension option instead of PASM. My girlfriend was complaining all the time until I turn normal mode on and yes she can be a pain in the neck but I have to admit that it sure is nice to have normal mode.

Some obvious stuff, the car is fast, I loved the acceleration and yes, it was quite different than that of my Boxster S. I can only imagine what X51 engine will feel like! It is even more obvious when at faster speeds, 200 Km/Hr, you still have power and your head pushes back after stepping in the gas. By the way, I should say that I personally truly despise Tip! I cannot imagine why on earth anyone would get a Tip car especially a Turbo. This was more evident as I drove the C4 manual. Those buttons on the wheel do not make sense either. Porsche, if yo want to keep the engine behind the rear axle, that's fine, I guess you have made it work but please follow others in the use of DSG and paddles behind the wheel!!!

I loved the adaptive sport seats! great stuff that can be comfortable and sporty. Since I'm getting a cabrio, I still wonder how it would look like with leather in the back instead of the painted plastic, anyone has pics? A small one that I love is the dimming mirrors with rain sensor, never had this in my car and I loved it! The radio offers sub-par sound quality and still no connection for Ipod.

And now the C4. Who said that 911s don't look good in cabrio!!! This car was gorgeous! The AWD 997 Cabrio has to be the best looking 911 cabrio ever made! trust me that the small difference in the back does make a difference from a pure design point of view, not because is wider but because is flatter. I took this car through pretty much the same routes as the C2S. My conclusion? Well, I did not find this car any less sporty whatsoever than the C2S. Yes, the car has a neutral stance in all occasions from twisty mountain roads to fast highway driving but did not feel at all any heavier, or more boring than the C2S. Unless boring is defined as a neutral stance car and fun as a car that challenges you by over-steering at times. In twisty roads going up and down mountains, I felt a stronger sense of security and therefore my threshold was that much higher than with the C2S which probably made me faster, obviously I was not checking times. The Alonso's in the forum will say this is crap, maybe and that's fine but unfortunately I'm not Alonso, just a normal guy who likes cars and likes to have a fun car. In highway conditions the car felt planted, no airborne feeling in the front axle, but again although as I said before I did not feel unsafe in the C2S when that happened, I did not feel less sporty, heavier or boring when it did not. The car did not have the performance of the S and wished I had had an S to test nonetheless it was a fine car, plenty fast for anyone. Another significant difference I noticed was the different setting of PASM in the cab. The sport mode was nice but you can clearly tell the difference with the coupe. Is it a reason to go for a coupe instead of a cab? Again if you are buying the car to get on a track every day, then I guess it matters but for me the feeling of pressing that little button on the rear console and having the roof disappear has no substitute! The sport mode was plenty fun for me.

One negative for the cabrio compared to my Boxster, I did not have the wind deflector and you really see how that little piece of glass in the Boxster is not just a 500 bucks rip-off! There's is a lot of turbulence in the 911 cab. The reason I say that it is a negative is because although I am sure the wind deflector solves this issue, you do have to put it on in which case not only the car does not look as good but what's the point of the back seats apart from luggage compartment?

Ok, so that's it a few comments on my experience and a few pics below.

As you can guess, I will be getting the C4S X51 in basalt black, by the way I should say that the C4 Cobalt blue was a great looking car, love the color.

Small request for anyone reading, if anyone has a good pic of adaptive sport seats with leather in the back and also any pic of a basalt black with XXR wheels please post.
    Enjoy the pics
