That's how air gets into the motor, just like the last version of the 997 RSR

    The air vents....

Many thanks Suzy   I realise now this is an old picture from autobild. The latest pictures by Boxster Coupe GTS in the other thread are the best ones so far :)

Love the air vents. I think Porsche will make the new RS look better than the 4.0 :)

2016 Porsche 911 Turbo facelift testing...

A few days ago, we brought you the first images of the possible GTS version for the new-generation Porsche 911 . That didn’t come as a surprise, as we’re expecting Porsche to offer more versions of its new 911 lineup.

The biggest surprise arrived in out inbox today, when our spy photographers sent us the first images of a Porsche 911 Turbo sporting what looks to be a facelift. That’s right, we are talking about the same car unveiled three months ago at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show . We know that this is a pretty quick facelift, even for Porsche, but our suspicion is that this model is still at least a year or two out, and Porsche just wants ample time to work out all of the bugs.

The biggest changes that this facelift will bring will be on the front and rear bumpers, and the taillights, which will likely get the same 3D look that we saw on the recently revealed Macan.

We don’t expect to see any changes under the hood, so the revised 911 Turbo should be offered with the same turbocharged 3.8-liter six-cylinder that delivers 520 horsepower in the base version and 560 horsepower in the S version.

Do not expect to see the revised Porsche 911 Turbo until late in 2015.

On the prototype caught testing today Porsche tried to hide only the front and the rear bumpers, meaning that only these parts will be updated. But we also expect the taillights to get the same 3D look as on the recently revealed Macan.

As usual, do not expect anything big coming from Porsche, just an evolution that will keep the car nice and fresh.

It also looks rather complicated with the engine cover moving out and away so the top section can swing into the void above the engine.

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

Now I see the final design I am more convinced it will operate as I posted nearly two years ago now. The corner sections of the roll bar will hinge open outwards, the rear clam including the glass rear window will lift up as it does on the cabrio and the "targa" panel which is shared with the cabrio roof will lift out of the same stowage area behind the rear seats on a telescopic arm that has a pivot where it connects to the roof panel. The arms then cycle through a near 90 degree arc and fit inside the roll bar as the targa panel settles into place against the windscreen header rail. The rear clam closes returning the rear glass to the trailing edge of the roll bar and the two outer hinged corners close to complete the cycle.

It's a beautifully simple solution that utilises the basic construction of the cabrio body and roof mechanism and should mean the rear seats are still usable although headroom appears compromised by the angle and flatness of the rear screen.

I've done a very rough sketch to show the operation as I think it will work.

Thank you ISUK, clever design. On the downside, there will be plenty of scope for rattles, unfortunately.

Car looks veeeeeery good indeed, curious to know how it´s going to sell as Targas never been a first or second choice among Porsche owners, but this one may change tradition!

What a styling disaster the Porsche rear wiper. More so on this model.

Agree Reginos.  What is the alternative, besides not ordering the wiper?
