    I do the service annually at the beginning of January (actually oil and the various filters and brake pads if needed plus diagnosis and any updates) at the time of the warranty and I ask not be charged anything for the 111 inspection, as there is not much extra work really. The OPC always agree.

    My local OPC offers a free "health check" so I take advantage of that for the annual check. Because my car does less than 10k miles annually the services fall due on time rather than mileage so I get the warranty carried out at the same time as the service. I don't pay the rip - off 111 point check either. I always shop around for the best servicing deal, despite fixed menu pricing I found a difference of over £400 between the most expensive and cheapest quote for the 4 year "major" service.

    Finally decided against a third party warranty and went with a 2 year Porsche approved extension.

    Got a good deal from my OPC  - the whole cost was £2315 (incl. VAT) and there was no charge for the 111 point inspection, the replacement of a FNS tie rod and a full wheel alignment and geometry re-set.  They even threw in an MOT which would have been required next month.  I also had a rear tyre replaced to even up all round wear.  The result is a very definite improvement to the feel of the steering and handling in general.

    Now hoping that, by the time I need to replace my tyres all round, the MPSS will be N-rated...

    Did you have the car serviced at the same time as the warranty? I know if you do then you get a substantial saving on the 111 point inspection as the service checks duplicate a lot of these points.

    The car didn't require a service as it was done last year (2 years).  My original warranty, from new, was extended to 3 years so is out of step with servicing.  However, as I said, there was no charge for anything other than the warranty itself.  So the inspection, which identified a broken tie rod (probably due to hitting a pot-hole), the fitting of a new one plus full alignment and geometry work was all free of charge...Smiley

    We're fine thanks - hope you're both good and your wife fully recovered. We've just got back from Christmas in Cyprus with SWMBO's daughter and family - got used to sitting in the sun at 18 deg C. Smiley  Also had the privilege of meeting reginos whilst we were there Smiley and enjoyed his wonderful hospitality. Seeing his immaculate 997S reminded me of the benefit of owning your own Porsche from new built exactly as you want rather than someone else's....Smiley. Trying to think of a cunning plan but a new 991 well out of reach sadly.....Missing all the stormy weather was  another bonus of Christmas abroad Smiley
