Re: Gallardo replacement soon to be revealed

The performance of this, the 12C, and the Turbo S are nearly identical in 99% of situation.  Most of these cars won't do anything other than move from parking spot to parking spot in downtown Monaco or drive more than 90mph. I can't even remember the last time I was passed by an exotic driving higher than 80 mph. The pizza delivery guys drive faster since they don't get pulled over with their pizza delivery signs on their roof.

    Depending what you want?

Standard Huracan is pretty fast IMO.

BTW, MP4-12C Ring time is 7.28min and Huracan will be faster.

Agree with you. How much will it be faster than Turbo S for 0-300kmh?

Re: Gallardo replacement soon to be revealed

This car will be at the 12C/458 price bracket, a step up from the 991 Turbo S.

But then again, the 991 Turbo S is a different beast from the other 3 all together, the Porsche is the incognito car, the other 3 are the flashy look at me cars, so depending on personal tastes, they don't really compete with each other. For some, they will buy the 991 Turbo S AND one of the other 3 just because they are so different.

The V10 at least of the displacement advantage going for it, to provide some much needed low end torque. A lot of people believe the throttle response of NA is horrible, especially at low rpm. They never have the immediate power delivery on any rpm from turbo/supercharged engines. Depending on point of view, that's the throttle response people are looking for. With small to medium displacement NA engines, especially those that tuned for high rpm hp, they have horrible low end torque, you press the throttle and 2 seconds later the power arrives when you hit 7k rpm from 2k.

Even the old AMG 6.2l has inferior low end torque compared to the 55k engine and it's already a big displacement engine. On the 55k one only needs to touch the throttle and the car jumps. With the 6.2 the engine needs to be winded to at least 4k rpm before any meaningful power is produced.

Re: Gallardo replacement soon to be revealed

Very nice but I prefer the more outrageous styling of the Aventador. A Lambo needs to be 'out there'. This is too tame IMHO by comparison.

Impressive if it proves faster than the 12C.

Re: Gallardo replacement soon to be revealed

I'd kind of expect it to be. After all, the 12C came out in 2010, didn't it? Doesn't seem like it, but the Huracan is actually  nearly 4 years newer than the 12C.

Re: Gallardo replacement soon to be revealed

Huracan is heavier, has less powerful and torque than the 12C so whatever trick chassis elements developed in the last few years are paying off.

Re: Gallardo replacement soon to be revealed

Although i normally never like flashy cars, this could be the first one that I actually would like to own. The exterior design is beautiful. It's clearly a Lamborghini, but they have managed to keep it stylish this time.

The only thing I don't like is the interior. It looks already outdated before the car goes into production.  A weird shaped steering wheel, odd vent-design, too many buttons on the center console... What were they thinking? yes

I do really like the steering wheel. Really like how the indicators are now just a switch on the left side of the wheel.

    BiTurbo:

Huracan will use Haldex system like the Aventador ?

Probably - I think the new 991 Turbo does now too...

I think Haldex is fine when the primary drive is RWD.  Not so good when primary drive is FWD (like Audi TT and VW Golf R).

Well yesterday while seeing the Huracan video I mention the rear wheels spinning a lot and the fronts just rolling, and stated it would be wonderful to a have an On/off RWD/AWD swicth, now there´s seems to be a rumor on Lambopower  this function may exist!!! If true it would be amazing.

From 0-200 kph and even to 300 kph, I'm afraid not. The Huracan with 610 hp is rumored to be the base model. More powerful (and even lighter) models are planned though.

Rumored 0-300 kph performance is "under 30 seconds" as far as I heard. This doesn't mean much though, this can be 29.9 or 20 seconds. Smiley I rather think that the new Huracan is pretty close to 991 Turbo S performance because this would leave performance increases for the more powerful (or lighter) models.

Any idea how they plan to add more power?  With a normally aspirated motor that already makes 117 hp/L, I can't see a huge amount of room for power improvement (and none for torque), unless they add displacement or forced induction.

I am pretty sure they are going to find a way, incl. the "light weight" version(s) I mentioned. 20 hp more and 100 kg less should do the trick. Smiley

    Dear Christian,

How could Hurakan be on par with TTS if it is more expensive?

Losing 100kg would be good for every metric, but gaining 3% power (and no peak torque) won't do much, except improve bragging rights...

Christian is right. To make a lightweight version just adding 5% more power and cutting 80-90 kg are enough. They stiffened the car, make the steering rack quicker, add some carbon and lots of alcantara and finally make the shifts faster. Here you have lightweight version with 15% increased price SmileySmiley
