Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

    Interesting & good MPG......USA GT3 cars are charged  w/a $1,000 gas guzzler tax .

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Placed a reserve on the car. White with red interior. Contrary to similar looking car above this one has black dashboard (not sure I use the right term - speedo and all dials).

Now need to look into winter tires. Looked the manual and see that my old 997 turbo winter tires are different size.

Not yet sure what the pick up date as may have to wait for a month for a set of winter tires.

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Are you going to drive 911 TTS in winter?

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Yep. Did that a few years back. Did not drive it last winter. Look forward to doing it again.

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Some photos from this weekend (Austria & Germany). Enjoy.

Car behaves quite nicely on snow, there are no traction issues and sidegrip is quite acceptable.

I am surprised myself, only the ground clearance seems to be the limit (and quite frankly, the Turbo S seems to have more ground clearance than I thought initially, no issues so far).

Do kids count too? Smiley I had my two kids with me and believe me or not, we even had our luggage with us (which wasn't easy). My wife had the skis in her car, some luggage (and two friends and their luggage), so she couldn't take all our luggage.

In Moscow yes. Although I did a few trips around the country in my 997T. And roads were ok. Porsche is very robust car. Very well made. Can stand quite a lot of abuse.

The bigger issue are now speed cameras, huge fines for speeding and horrible traffic.

Anyway thats the place where I live. So this is the place to enjoy a nice car)))

RC - great pictures. You are a great inspiration to drive TS in winter.

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Is there a PDCC button, for choosing ON/OFF or Sport mode

I thought PDCC worked on its own without intervention.

    --

    "Form follows function"

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

The PDCC button is very confusing: It actually switches PASM modes from Normal to Sport and back. When the red lamp is on, the Sport mode is active. When it is off, the Normal mode is active. Same applies to corresponding PDCC on-road driving programs. I don't have a clue why Porsche didn't name the button PASM, pretty weird.

To summarize: By pressing the button, you actually switch PASM modes but at the same time PDCC driving program is switched too (but it is related to the PASM setting, you cannot switch is separately from PASM).

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

RC, I remember you reported rattling sound coming from your glass sunroof and it went away on its own.  Did it ever come back?  I'm hearing rattle from the metal sunroof and a bit from the driver side B pillar.  Needless to say this is extremely annoying, especially from a $200k+ car.

I usually listen to the engine/exhaust sound (window cracked open) or to music, I haven't paid attention lately. Sorry. Smiley

Next time I'm in the car, I am going to pay attention again. I'm not really someone who pays attention to interior noises because of the above points I made and these noises also usually don't annoy me, unless they are really noticeable.

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Here is the question to the community. Regarding winter tires. I have seen here good reports (mainly from RC) regarding Pirelli winter offering. I found here a set of winter tires by Michelen. I think its a Pilot model specifically for Porsche in the sizing of Porsche.

Any views on Michelin winter tires?

I always prefer N-rated tires for my Porsche cars, incl. winter tires. Since the 991 Turbo S is pretty new and the AWS is also a new feature, it is difficult to tell much about other tires. Ask your local Porsche dealer, he should have an actual list of approved winter tires for the 991 Turbo S. Of course other tires (same size, speed and load index) could work too but since the 991 Turbo S is a pretty "complex" car, I wouldn't do it. Yes, others may have a different opinion on this.

It is from Porsche dealer and it is approved for 991 Turbo S. Its Michelin Pilot 4 tires. I spoke with the other suppliers and after passing on the details of Pirelli tires and sizes they saw immediately that the tires are specific for Porsche as well. So if they find it (which I think is unlikely) then it will still be specific for Porsche Turbo S.

One other option I am thinking about is ordering from Porsche a factory ready made set with rims. If its available at the central warehouse in Germany then it will take 3-4 weeks to get it to Moscow.
