Gnil:
RC - nice choice for your wife . But if you end up driving it , kind of your DD , I bet , very soon you will get rid of it and say : The Boxster is a very good car but not for ME . Too small, not powerful enough , can't take the kids etc…..
It is faster than my current Cayenne GTS.
Before I had the 991 Turbo S, you would have been right but now that I have a choice (I drive the 991 Turbo S as much as possible, you can't even imagine how much I love this car, even in winter time), the Boxster S is an interesting option and the Cayenne GTS isn't needed anymore. For example: I am going snowboarding with the kids tomorrow and I am driving with them in the Turbo S. My wife drives earlier with a friend and she takes the equipment with her. Perfect combo.
For longer distances, we will use the X3 35d but we really don't drive any long(er) distances anymore with the car, so this isn't important anymore. Things may look different in two or three years when the kids are taller.
Me and my wife wanted the F-Type or a Boxster S anyway and we both would have preferred the Jaguar (it looks and sounds great) but keeping the Cayenne GTS isn't really making sense anymore, we realized that this year, so one SUV is enough. When my wife has the kids, she uses the SUV and when she doesn't, the Boxster. The biggest advantage of this Boxster S and the Boxster in general: It is not a flashy car and "acceptable" for driving to work in it.
