RC:
The interior is sooooo boring. This is why I do not buy BMW anymore...until they change the interior.
Christian,
It depends on the taste. You find it sooo boring and and I find it very tasty and sporty. So they lose you but win me On the other hand, you are not an M guy. I had owned 4 M3s in the last 13 years so I have special sympathy towards the brand.
Finally proper looking seats and leather dashboard in an M3/M4. Also I like the dials and the steering wheels very much. I wish to have it as a daily drive next to my italia but it will cost around 200K euro in Turkey with the taxes.

It does it for me....then I have always been a sucker for the M3 (I have had 2 in the past). The interior works for me too. So do not like Audi interiors....can't wait for the final specs...

I don't mind the interior design; my concern is with the materials used, if the current 3 series is an indicator. I was planning on replacing my aging 3 series (2006), but was shocked by the cheapness of some of the plastics. The Honda Accord I keep for my mother to drive when she visits has better quality plastics than those found in some areas of the current 3.
It's really the front spoiler and the rear valance that I find a bit overdone, if not entirely unpleasant...

trouble is, BMW interior plastics (especially the lower areas such as door sills panels and the lower B pillar panels) are shockingly poor quality ..
Based on my experience BMWs are full of cheap solutions these days. I will never get one again As I said before, I feel BMWs are made for people who can't differ 95% from 100% (i.e. they can feel happy with less than the best available at a certain price range). Not a fan of the brand any more.

separated at birth : new M4 / new Mustang ( which will surely get ITS own hood bulge on the hi-po versions )
Good point. And speaking of Hi-Po versions, even the cheap GT model has about the same power and torque as the M3 for a about half the price.
Of course the M3/4 has more power and torque than the Carrera S for a little more than half the price too...

I think the M4 looks cool too. It's a bit too big for me though, so I am still holding out hope that the M2 will be a nice car (if it materializes). BMW has made a big deal about how good their electric steering is (I think their mention that it has no self-correcting functions is a veiled slam at Porsche). I am very curious to try it and see how good it is. Their hydraulic steering is so bad lately, that they should be able to at least meet that standard (hopeful it's better).

i really like the M4, except the busy front spoiler/read diffuser. i have no issues with BMW build quality, my M5 was an excellent car- except the exaggerated close to 2 ton weight. but they have corrected this issue with the M3/4. at this point i do not see a reason why anyone should buy a carrera (S) anymore.
