    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

    Gnil:
I just realized that the M50d can't be configured with the 3rd rows of seats . At least it did not let me do it on Configurator. That would probably be a no go for me . I would then have to go for the 40d , but it seems it has been delayed ?? Or the 50i …. but not sure that is good with this car ?? I have high hopes on the BMW diesel engine ….. but until today, I have most of the time been disappointed by the diesel engines . Only one that felt ok, was in a MB S

It looks terrible!!!A car of this price does need to have some character, even if it´s not beautiful, it should have something to critisize like the Panamera, it´s not a gorgeous car, but there´s something to it that makes it special. This new X5 it´s just plain vulgar, can you leave with it!!! It´s better to look ugly, than vulgar Smiley.

Regarding dinamics, it must be great, I have a X6 4.0D, a X5 4.4i and compared to my Range Rover Vogue TD6 they are a century ahead in dinamic feel, so the X15 should drive much better than new RRS I wont doubt you, but I would choose the RRS even without any drive test, looks in and out alone makes the new X5 a no go in my view, Cayenne and RRS are better options.

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

    Head up is a must!

My dealer offered 15% on a new car. Talking about leasing he is 18% higher than what you will get on Sixt-Leasing.de

As I said before, I have the 50d in my 7 and would never buy this engine again. Not much faster as the 40d but louder and much higher consumption.

The X5 I configured as 40d would add up to 98.000€ - that gives me kind of headache, I think it's to much for this car.  The car will be on every corner in a year from now - hardly any exclusivity on it.

General press opinion have been the same ever since the 5.0D came out, not worth to get the 5.0D over 4.0D.

    Gnil:

If I take an X5, I would get the 40d. It seems indeed the best  for the purpose that car will have . I was  disappointed by the trunk space. It is not that big , much smaller then the RRS for example .   I configutated a pretty loaded car with the dealer .  Price wise I do not get far from the 50d .

What about these options , are they must have ?

    The Harman/Kardon speakers ?

    The head up display ?

And how much discount can I expect ? The first offer from the dealer was 9 % .

Head up display is a must!  I also love the street sign recognition (also projected in the screen) and would always get the  ACC. Works very well. First time i had it and i use it all the time in the highway, very useful here in Switzerland. I have individual speakers but dont need them...

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

@Turbolite - same here, I have individual speakers but I spend more time at the phone angry ACC is a must in any of my cars. I have this feature since more than 10 years now and I never ever will a buy a car without anymore. Its a complete must if you use the car for daily driving and want to spend some time on the phone (might be different with a sportscar for a sunday morning drive).

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

and two things i would definitely not need on my next csr are the door closing system (Tuerzuziehhilfe) and the two front cameras looking out 90 degrees. unlike the surround view that i find useful, i hardly ever get to use them and unless u are standing exactly at a right angle they are not really helpful...

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

The closing door option was proposed by the dealer but I said no , so that confirms what I had thought . The surround view seemed interesting but I do not know what I did with the 90 degrees camera … thanks

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

The heads-up display is essential for me.  It takes the stress out of driving in urban areas with speed limits/cameras.

The surround view is also essential for parking in tight spaces.  The 90 degrees forward camera is much less useful: I only use it for pulling out of blind junctions.

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

The surround view is excellent but only available from BMW/Mercedes as I know. The Türzuziehhilfe (door soft close) is something I really love and once you used to you cant close a door on any other car anymore (because you just flop it back to soft).

Anyway.... buying this 100.000 € cars we are talking about peanuts. The major problem is, that we all love gadgets and we want to have those little things to enjoy the car. Some of those gadgets might be useful, otheres playful. But comparing the extra prices with things you buy for your house or daily living its outrages how you waste money on cars. Just compare the extras you are paying for leather / seats, seat heating / cooling, etc - easily you can spend 10k just for the seats. This you do on every car, probably every 3 years. How many times you are changing the sofa at your home?

How funny! That' s exactly my experience too! you become an idiot and unlearn how to close a normal car door!!  So the bmw door closes but the other one you have to slap twice, meaning there is no gain...;-))

Gnil : as to the % you should get more ! PM me I can hook you up to a friend here

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

The surround view is working great. I love it and would really miss it in any other car - especially a car this size!

    Re: BMW X5 (F15) revealed

Must have IMO is the M Sport package with 20"s (Love it btw)  other trims look weird, bland and overstyled.
