This car will be a hit with couples with no children . The Cayenne was too big for them . This is just the right size . And the income of these group of people is usually very good + they can spend more on luxury goods . It will be the new hype !
It reminds me much of the Audi Steppenwolf concept shown about a decade ago. That car was a SUV/sports coupe hybrid with styling similar to that of the Audi TT Mk I.

pretty disappointing rear space. Clearly a solution for two people or family with really small kids. In any case a car for the occasions with small baggage.
I can say one thing for sure - I will not be a buyer of that car
The AMS article states that the backseat/headroom will be good enough for people up to 1.87m/6'2" tall. If that's the case, maybe the guy sitting in the backseat is on the taller side of things and most people will be able to manage with the Macan's space.

Porsche Macan at the test track in Weissach...
"Typically for Porsche, the chassis of the new Porsche Macan has a sporty tuning. Various systems ensure that the Macan can be adapted to fit your needs perfectly and allow an even more intense contact with the road. Watch how the new Porsche Macan was tested at the R&D centre in Weissach..."

I think it is clearly a SUV, just not an all-terrain car. Provided that most SUVs see little more than snow or a wet field, Macan will provide all the practicality 99% of premium SUV require. Besides, there will certainly be an air suspension option for those who sometimes will wish an elevated ride height.
On the upside, judging by the video it has the handling a 911 driver will require from his second car.

You are right probably with the key target group and off-road use.
But - a SUVs differentiation is to sit elevated and upright on all rights. I have a friend owning an Q5, another a X3 - both cars dont have that elevated feeling. Compared to our RRS their car just feels like sitting in any sedan.
Regarding handling - I'm sure you can take any modern SUV and do similar films - I have seen those from the new RRS they dont look much different to be honest.
I have a Q5 too and it strikes a balance between a normal sedan driving position and that of an old fashioned off-roader. Neither high nor low but just as it suits. You can still see over other cars on the highway that creates a sense of safety and comfort but OTOH you don't sit on the car like in my previous ML.
From my experience the Macan style will suit a large part of the SUV segment, except those that need plenty of space for a large number of adult passengers and their luggage. Would I buy one given its premium over Audi? In my case No. For fun and speed there are other classes of car. But if it were my only car, I would consider it seriously.

A 21k jump seems a lot...

HI, for anyone here heading to the LA show; could you inquire and post here answers to a couple of questions? First, where are they placing the battery in this car. Next is what is the towing capacity. And last is will the Macan Turbo have the height adjustable suspension (although I'm sure that will be covered by the media.. ) thanks!
