Thanks RC. Sinister like Kung Foo Panda LOL! Mmmm. Will have to have a long think....

Sinister was the word my wife used when she saw the black lights for the first time. She liked them though and so did I. No surprises here though, I'm not a big fan of chrome and silvery stuff on cars. Smiley

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

The lights look actually pretty dark in this photo. The foil guy in my region who does all the foil jobs on various cars, also offers foil for the back and front lights. Of course this isn't really legal but you can't actually see if there is foil or not. My dealer had a showcar with blackened front and rear lights and they looked amazingly dark but it was foil and illegal in Germany. Not sure about other countries though (this could be a solution for those who don't like the silver stuff on their LED lights).

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Thanks Suzy. My how the 911 has grown!

I think the back PDLS would look great on a back or Agate or Red GT3. Black on the white is a  love it or hate it thing IMO.

My biggest decision now is to stick with LED or just go PDLS BiXenon. The factory brochure has LED and they look good but all the pictures are doctored. Ive seen very few outdoor real life pictures of a white GT3 with LED as all the press cars and show cars all of a sudden didnt have LED anywhere like they decided to use it for the hero shots on the Brochure then had a bit about face when they realised it would be the hero feature on the Turbo. Interestingly they did the opposite with PCCB. The brochure has steel bakes throughout and all the press cars have Cermaic. Go figure. Something happened in the Marketing Department..just hope they buried the body well!

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

I think that this photo is quite accurate (I edited it a little bit to make the lights less dark...which in reality they are).

Clear ones are much better looking and give the car a bright face.

The dark lights remind me of the blind man permanently wearing very dark glasses. Very depressing surprise

I'm not so sure that LED lights will be available for the RS...I heard a couple of rumors but so far, they haven't made much sense though.

The black LED lights should be available sometimes next year.

Unfortunately I haven't Joost. Someone posted that picture on anoter forum, but I can't remember which forum Smiley Smiley. The 991 was his car. I downloaded that picture also because I really liked it. Like a father and son next to eachother.

I agree.  That photograph illustrates the bloat issue and dilutions the pureness of the original 911 formula.

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

I will probably be in the minority, but I like the 991 more (in general, not in this particular picture).

But what I find most interesting about this picture is that it shows that the same basic design looked modern back then and still looks modern now. An absolute timeless design.... And just a beautiful picture :)

    RC:

Beautiful car but please...get rid of that red "S". Everything is perfect about the look of that car but the "S" kind of says "look at me, dude", which is not a message you want to send with a 911. Just my personal opinion, especially since diehard 911 fans will not like it because it looks very aftermarket.

Just keep in mind that there is no 911 S. Smiley

it is OEM, from the 996 4S logo moniker. as mentioned though, never affixed it and then sold the car.

Black PDLS look very good on a white car, it makes the front look a little bit "sinister", it is difficult to explain.

Here are two photos of black PDLS on a white car, sorry...haven't found something better.

    picture_php_pictureid_28508_8ea3b2525b8405245954dfbff6669cb91bb46faa.jpg

    Screen Shot 2012-11-08 at 12.40.15 AM.jpg

These are the exact pics that me me decide NOT to go for the black PDLS.Smiley With all due respect to the owners of the above car(the bottom one is a Porsche car.)

Personally I am not a fan of the black PDLS on a white car. Maybe these pics don't justify the real life results but to me it just doesn't look right. I have never seen one in real life. So maybe that will change my mind.

A friend ordered a white 991 4S with black PDLS. Soon I will see the result and give you guys some pics of my 991 GT3, with LED headlights, next to his 991 Carrera 4S.

If only Porsche had more real life photos on their website. Or showed more details of their countless options. SmileySmileyThe configurator is quite vague and IMO outdated in it's current form. This would have saved me a lot of time. I hope they read this! Smiley

I totally agree with you. I have had a better experience customising a 15 Euro T shirt on some websites rather than a 150,000 Euro Car on Porsche website. The images are poor, it loads slow, its inconsistent etc.

Its also annoying how Porsche doctored most of their early press shots with LED. Its hard to know how "glitzy" or blingy the silver finish is in real life light...

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

The big problem seems to be the "foreign" websites. The German configurator has pretty much everything covered or it is findable in the pricelist or catalog.

The U.S. website for example (also UK website), lacks a lot of information and some information is not correct either. (For example the U.S. Configurator says that if you take PCCB on the 911-50, you'll get 410mm front-discs and 390mm rear-discs, whilst it has 350mm front and rear).

Why? I have no idea, but the correct information is available from PAG. Maybe it's due to translation difficulties or whatever, but it's definitely not as is should be. Porsche has one of the best visual 3D configurators of all brands. They could make the experience so much better if the information was more extensive and correct.

Missed oppertunity IMO, but  i think the problem is more due to the local Porsche departments, like PCNA.

Re: 991 Turbo S - Short Driving Report (owner)

Please can someone help me. Im ordering my RHD GT3 via a European dealer (long story). I want to order bucket seats. My wife wants heating. German and Australian sites now show seat heating with Sport Bucket seats. UK and other sides do not. Could someone help me to determine for 100% if this is available on a European ordered car (C98)? Thanks kindly.

I think we mentioned it before a couple of months ago: The heating for the bucket seats is available as an option. It does not come standard. So if you order the bucket seats and the heated seat option, the bucket seats will have the heated seat function. I hope this helps.
