    Macan will look good.Smiley

    BUT, I have some reservation...

    1. PDK-Why only double clutch gearbox in sporty suv? Any one who had a chance to drive latest 8 speed TIP knows that it is much, much better in slow driving and stop/go situation then PDK.

    2. Macan Turbo-Are very powerfull biturbo engine really key to success of mid size suv? If for the image then OK. Porsche need something else if they want to get costumers that are buying SQ5 or X3 3.5d today... IMHO.

    3. Price-Macan will be much, much more expensive in all versions then either Q5 or X3.

@ 2. Very much agree with that. They need a 3.0 Diesel with 320 PS to compete with the cars you mentioned . Here in Europe the 3.0 petrol biturbo does not make sense.  Ar the moment the realistic chioce is between the relatively thirsty Turbo or the relatively weak Diesel...

I may actually replace our Cayenne GTS with the Macan Turbo if the Macan holds enough cargo room for us.  My wife wants to get rid of her BMW X3 35d but the Cayenne is too big for her. The Macan Turbo S could be interesting too but I won't pay 120k EUR for a fully equipped Macan Turbo S, I am sorry. Not going to happen.

Oh, according to provisional prices for Germany that I got you will have to pay close to 115K € for Macan Turbo with full options.

Re: "Cajun" is now...MACAN Thread Closed

RC,   My wife will be ordering a Macan S next month. Base price for that in the US is $52K. I expect final configured price to be about $60K. This is pretty close to what I paid for my 2013 fully optioned Cayenne.  I will be interested in  what type of discount my dealer will be offering.

I should have added "when the Cayenne GTS lease runs out in two years".  The Cayenne GTS is our family car, I was referring to my fun car budget. Smiley

Re: "Cajun" is now...MACAN Thread Closed

So the Macan S will cost more than the base Cayenne ($57500 CAD)?

The 3L V6 turbo in Panamera S and 4S already produces 420bhp and 520Nm of torque. Isn't it strange for Porsche to put a 3.6L turbo into the Macan turbo with less power?

I guess they can charge more if it is a 3.6! but indeed you wouldnt need the additional displacement to reach those power and torque figure...Smiley

    Good News for Dieselfans!

According to Autozeitung the Diesel version wil have 285 PS!

This means that with some weightsavings it will have the same straight line performance of an x35d or Sq5...

It's actually 258  Smiley  It's the 3.0 TDI V6 that's also used in the Q5. They could easily have typed that wrong 258 <-> 285.

i think the Macan S diesel will get around 315-320hp (BiTurbo engine from the SQ5 with a little bit more hp)

Edit: i see on several UK websites that Porsche has confirmed that the V6 diesel engine wil get 254 bhp which is 258 metric hp.

I guess the look will be stunning with this wide rear body. Just not sure if the car ends up way to small for an SUV?

    Lars997:

In fact I was thinking today about what would be the real life alternatives/competitors for the Macan Turbo.

I would argue that it would not be a another (mostly Diesel here in Europe) SUV like vehicle but rather some powerful  smaller station wagons. The first ones springing to my mind would be the Audi RS4 and the Alpina B3 (sw, awd). These are cars for someone who needs a small family car but wants sporty capabilities. Alternatively bigger station wagons could come to play like Audi S6 or even Rs6 (more expensive but u can buy used ones one year old which i guess would be on par pricewise with the Mac Turbo..).

Given how many of these Audi RS4 we see here in Switzerland i believe the Mac Turbo will be a big success even before the more powerful Diesel variant comes out.. Smiley

Re: "Cajun" is now...MACAN Thread Closed

I've been looking closely at the Macan design sketch Porsche released and some of the older articles posted and I'm confident that the Macan will in fact have the three-dimensional taillights previewed by the Panamera Sport Turismo. That means each lighting element will be angular and alternate between recessed and protruding.

The rear definitely seems to be the biggest surprise. A leak needs to happen now!
