Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    991 GT3:

I hate the clear taillights) But this is just a matter of personal preference.

I don't like the too much either but on the 997.2 was a similar story yet on some color combos on GT3/GT3RS and GT2/GT2RS they looked really in line with the hardcore sporty nature of those cars.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I think the clear taillights look excellent on white cars.

It must be just me, but I much prefer the no-black wheels.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

nope - not just you. I don't get black wheels either. And that car just looks odd to me without any script on the back.

Agreed... needs the script on the back and the Turbo S wheels :)

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    Today AZ...

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

what are the acceleration tests results?)))

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Can you give us a short summary?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

From memory since that issue of AZ is in my office... 991 TS faster in all regards. Better to drive daily also. Clear winner...

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

KresoF1, could you please post scans tomorrow?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    Friday earliest...

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Looking good in agate grey in that scan too!

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I haven't seen a AZ or AMS group test in which the German car (from supermini to supercar) doesn't end up first.

Also the points system they use which ultimately decides the winner, is rather arbitrary.

Here are the results (991 Turbo S vs. GT-R):

    0-100 kph in 2.9 sec. (GT-R in 3.2 sec.)

    0-200 kph in 9.6 sec. (GT-R in 10.9 sec.)

Handling test track: 1:33,7 min. with Pirelli PZero street tires (GT-R in 1:35,3 min on UHP tire, Dunlop SP Sport 600)

Six years and 100.000 EUR later, the Turbo is catching up angry

BTW Nissan have recently rented the entire NBR course to themselves in an attempt to improve their lap time..

Let's see if Nissan will continue GT-R development or not. Rumors are quite confusing right now. Apparently the car doesn't make enough money and sales seem to be slower than anticipated too.

To just add this-on the same AZ test track latest MP4-12C did 1:32,8min with optional P Zero Corsas.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Are UHP tyres specified for the Turbo? If so, why test cars are not so equiped?

Interesting question. Maybe because A. they would suck in wet handling (which for most Turbo S customers would probably be more important than the track) and B. because some testers could accuse Porsche of cheating.

Yes, the Dunlop SportMaxx (same tire used as on the 991 GT3) is certified as an UHP tire and I hope (and pray) that Porsche uses it for their Supertest in Sport Auto.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Hmm... How about even better idea for Supertest? Ring time with P Zero and with SportMaxx tires. Yes, two runs(in fact about 4 runs I guess...)-but for most people interested in 991 Turbo S very worthy.

Interesting, yes but it may be too much work for Sport Auto and for Porsche, the best achievable time is actually the most desirable option in my opinion. Smiley In the end, people will say that the 991 Turbo S did the Nordschleife in 7:26 min. and not "7:26 min. on semi-slicks or UHP tires". You get the point.

    Agreed.Smiley

Just... Since wet handling test droped out of Supertest(I wrote about rumors why that I heard few weeks ago) I would like to see little bit more from Supertest.

Since 991 Turbo S is probably(Smiley) developed with P Zeros I would like to know how much faster is it in perfect conditions with Sportmaxxs. Even more interested how much is it slower on wet handling track with UHPs...Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

The PZero on the Turbo S is very good in the wet, like I said in my owner report, I drove over 300 km in heavy rain and really enjoyed it. AMS apparently came to a similar conclusion when the did their comparison to the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R. I am actually more curious about the winter tires for the Turbo S, the Pirelli Winter Sottozero. I just hope they can live up to my expectations.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I am waiting for the Sport Auto test. In AMS, the 991 Turbo S did 0-100 kph also in 2.9 seconds but 0-200 kph time was 10.2 seconds. I think the AMS car is the car Sport Auto has for testing too because, if I'm not mistaken, Christian Gebhardt from Sport Auto posted a video with exactly that particular car (S-GO 517).

Here is a link to that video again:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoKst5KKtdQ

If they are anything similar to the Winter Sottozero Serie II that I have on winter wheels for my PanameraTurbo, you will be delighted.  They are very good in the type of winter we have in Cincinnati -->  dry 60%, wet 30%, light snow 9%, deep snow 1%.  They have the "mountain snowflake" marking on the sidewall and work really well in cold temperatures, regardless of dry/wet/snow.

I like to think that I am sensitive to tire behavior (Pilot Super Sports in Summer) and I really like Sottozeros on my PTT.
