Re: Porsche 911 50 Year Edition

I can understand that a PTS in a very exotic color can take > 6 months. I can NOT understand that painting a 991 in a color that is available for another model (i.e. meteor grey) should take the same time. It's a shame that Porsche sells it's expensive sport cars with less available colors than BMW the 3 series.

@Suzy: recently I saw a stone grey metallic 997 GT3 at my dealer. It looked breathtakingly good. I would expect that a 991 will look even better in this color.

I would like to underline this, Suzy. In stone grey metallic your car will look both, stunning and classic, white metallic is - at least for me - an old-fashioned colour of the past years, maybe eye-catching at first sight, but nothing more. Smiley

Re: Porsche 911 50 Year Edition

In my experience Porsche (their representatives) are doing everything to refrain you from ordering a PTS / LTS car.  After three months I still do not have an accurate reply whether Porsche can paint the 991 GT3 (which is the first and only 991 I could imagine buying new) in a short list of colors I have submitted to them (two of them on the approved list) . I guess business is too good and PTS is an annoyance to handle.

Re: Porsche 911 50 Year Edition

I'm sure the car will look stunning in stone grey metallic. I liked the color, otherwise I wouldn't have picked it. It's just that i don't like the fact that they gave me wrong information.  The stone grey is not the color I prefered most. I chose it, because white metallic, meteor grey metallic and seal grey metallic weren't available. So it is actually my 4th choice and not my first.

Normally that wouldn't be much of a problem, but now that I know they gave me wrong information and that my 1st choice IS available, i think I'm gonna get regrets if I accept the car in stone grey and will always keep that feeling of not getting the car the way I initially wanted.

That's not a nice feeling when you payed CHF 210000 or EUR 170000 for a car.... Smiley

White metallic? Too 1980s colour and too "bijou". Not fit for a dynamic sportscar.

However, If i were in your position and wanted the colour so much, I would make a big noise in order to cancel the order.

Too 1980s ??? At the IAA in Frankfurt, there wasn't a major brand without a white metallic car. Some brands were showing almost every car in white metallic (Audi for example). Smiley

I think I will make some big noise... Smiley  They just need to change if possible.

Re: Porsche 911 50 Year Edition

Yes, it was a colour that appeared in the 80s on the Porsche "Gruppe B" concept (basis for the 959) and several Audi road cars. Like fashion trends it is making a comeback, for a short time most probably.

Since  you like it so much I wish Porsche ultimately satisfy your requirement. Keep us posted.

Jmo, but I wouldn't do it on the phone. I would make an appointment with your salesperson face to face without telling them what it is about before you see them. Stops them having time to rehearse BS...

It was someone at porsche's exclusive department that told me the metallic white wasn't feasible, not my salesman. I just call him tomorrow and ask what to do best. IMO the best way is indeed to make an appointment in zuffenhausen without telling them what it is really about and then just throw it all out... Smiley  Haha

But i'll see what my salesmen says...

    Sad but true.SmileySmiley

I really don't get that they can mess this up like they, unfortunately, do. Such a good company. If I even bring it up in a Porsche showroom the sales reps start saying I'd better not do that. (more than one dealership)

IMHO They should handle this professionally, otherwise NOT offer it at all.

Have an appointment, together with my salesman on friday. (Respect for him, he insisted that he wanted to go with me to be sure  i'm 100% satisfied with the order, even if it is his day off) Smiley

Car is not in production yet, so probably changes can still be made.

Saw a graphite grey car yesterday, what a beautiful color. It is kind of an agate grey with no brownish shine and no shine particles. I would call it a slightly matte agate grey. The color tone was the same in daylight, only the graphite grey was less "shiny". Wonderful color for this car but I can understand if someone calls it boring (not for me though).

Here is a photo which shows the exact color in daylight.

It is a light color (similar to agate grey) but like I said, almost matte (very low number of "shine" particles...if any). I would have loved to get this color for my 991 Turbo S. Next to this car was an agate grey car, so I had a pretty good comparison. What a shame... Smiley

What a great color indeed. Too bad it isn't available (in a normal production order) on a Turbo or GT3.

991 50Y owners will be lucky!

    Voodoo Blue? What is that?

Re: Porsche 911 50 Year Edition

Finally saw one in the flesh! What a beautiful car. I disagree with the color being dull, it's flat gray but it looks great and the wide body without the wing looks superb !  Loved it.
