    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Thanks for the video link. My wife translated this for me whilst I was watching.

Its quite clear Uwe loved the car and although most of the track was wet and slippery the things he says about it are very confidence inspiring and its clear he finds the car not only faster, ,more precise and better handling than the out going model but more fun to drive also for a normal persona and a racing driver...

These can be dealer cars, showcars, whatever...many other possibilities.

I don't say these are not customer cars, I am just curious how you know they are? Smiley

Yesterday a friend called me, telling me in a very amused and kind of frank way that he just saw a 991 Turbo S at a german dealer and that the Oct. 5th embargo date I mentioned to him is bullshit. Well, I told him to ask the dealer if he can buy the car and get it registered today. He called half an hour ago and apologized. No registration until October 5th. Smiley And the car is already sold.

exactly..Im also surprised that just by seeing some 991 GT3s..someone can say that these are "customer cars". As a matter of fact, I know that Porsche Driving school still has no 991 GT3 available (they had to cancel an event just because of this)..they are first in line, like Porsche Germany, then the dealer cars, ...and then only customers will be served. The pictures are probably from the press cars...and even Porsche employees are not allowed to drive these (except a few ones)..so most likely these are pre-production cars.

Why would they bother with all of the paint protection etc for pre-production cars???

pre production is to test production practices and procedures, so makes sense that they look like production cars?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Those cars have the long distance protect pack on them. I would suggest they are early UAE cars about to be shipped from that yard to ROR service.

I really do not need a GT3. My C2S makes more sense. I am repeating that every time I watch that. Its not working.

Timo could have been much faster had the 4.0 been equipped with a PDK gearbox. Because of the extra time needed to change gear with manual, he was not maxing the car's potential, the car could have gone faster and deeper before braking for turns, but he needed to account for the slow gear changes and finish them before he needs to turn in. Then there is the fact that he wasn't in perfect control of the car when he had to take one hand off the wheel to change gear, tons more steering wheel corrections.

These 2 videos is just about the perfect example for why PDK is the future and manual should go the way of carburetors.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

I just heard of a four week delay for the GT3 production, not sure however if this means the four weeks start now or have already started at some point. Fact still remains: No customer car has been delivered yet. None. This is a fact. Rumors also indicate that no customer cars have been produced yet.

Again...take every rumor with a grain of salt.

The delay seems to have been caused by issues related to the PDK gearbox. The external parts supplier is reported to be struggling with production quality problems.

Yes. Smiley Somebody finally said it.  Smiley The final product will be more than OK though, unfortunately it cannot be replaced by a different PDK model since the new GT3 has a new PDK gearbox development.

My production date got pushed back three weeks a couple of weeks ago (mid oct instead of this week). According to my dealer the factory says that there will be no more delays when I asked a few days ago.
