I don't get why you wouldn't match the stitching and seat-belt color with the break calipers (at least )

Although you can get yellow seat-belts there isn't a std option for yellow stitching - the choice is silver or red only, so maybe they thought best to tie the two items together in red?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

Then use silver. Less in-your -face and doesn't make it look like the color coordination is done by someone that is standing too close to the parts bin after a very liquid lunch. The best solution however, is to offer yellow stitching. In fact, it is ridiculous that they don't offer stitching in every color that the offer for the seat-belt.

I am pretty sure that at some point, yellow stitching will be offered. Don't forget that no customer car has left the Porsche factory yet, they are still in the early process of putting their first customer cars on the street, so options are limited. Same goes to the 991 Turbo/S, some options will be available later on.

So a week on and no news on this yet. My car is October build but still not locked and no date on the system. Come on RC, tell us what you know?

He would rather take this to his grave..Smiley..even if you put at gun at his head..no chance:)..no - im kidding - but I understand his position.

But again, just add 1 +1, .originally the idea was to build the first customer cars in late august..now it will be rather middle october. So - rather a "serious issue" ..however, serious, compared to what? 3-4 months delays happen everywhere in the sector..for all kind of reasons..not that I m such a big fan of this car, but Porsche is taking the right measures / steps..after all a lot is at stake here. And remember that GT3 customers will analyse their cars to the last detail..this is not a housewife cayenne lease - at least this was the case in the past ..but I fear a bit that this is changing. Maybe the 991 GT3 will be the new Ferrari California..OK..no - Im just kidding.

Well, Porsche is not Mclaren...I bow my hat for Ron Dennis..unlike Porsche he has the guts to write to customers that they made a mistake and that they will try to rectify it..I dont see Porsche doing that (yet)...but lets see..

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

My guess - gearbox related.  What other part would be so embarrasing that they would need to keep this a secret?

That guy can barely see over the steering wheel! I HATE sitting low in a car like that unless the windshield is much more raked like in a mid engined car.

I have to admit I long for the days of the BMW 2002 etc. where you could open the window and you know, stick your arm out without having to raise it above your shoulder!?! A proper GREENHOUSE, not slits better suited to archers defending a castle...

The delay is unfortunate and I am sure those who ordered a GT3 will get some sort of apology but I actually think that it is better to find/correct an issue during production rather than after the car has been delivered to customers. This is the responsible way and Porsche just did that.

"Funny" side story: When I heard that the new GT3 will make it to customers end of August a couple of months ago, I was thinking about buying a GT3, driving it a couple of weeks and then selling it when my 991 Turbo S arrives. I am glad I didn't. Smiley

i think you would have forsaken the turbo S in that case---))

now seriously speaking, when do you think we shall see the RS?

    peter

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

The RS (first deliveries) was scheduled for spring 2014 as far as I heard. Since I expected the same from the 991 Turbo/S Cabriolet and they moved it to end of this year, I don't know what to say. Since the GT3 has been delayed, it is very unlikely that we are going to see the RS before spring though. Just a wild guess...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

RC. You must be a really rich guy to consider owning a GT3 for a few weeks then to trade it on a  991S. I'm jealous!

The factory have known about the production delay for quite some time now. My order was moved from Oct to Nov (first RHD) on 20 August and I was told by the dealer (PAG) all orders were moving two weeks. No reason why. I believe factory cars have now started to be produced. A picture of Rennlist of a delivery yard in Stuttgart shows a number of LHD models ready for customer delivery....

The reason why that guy looks so small in the picture from Top Gear is because hes bloody short. I love low bucket seats and high greenhouse as Im 6'2 and need the headroom especially with a helmet but this guy seriously is a 5'4" guy...!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

OK, I have a speculation about the delay.

My 997 GT3 RS 4.0 just underwent a campaign to replace a section of the intake system comprised of resonator tubes with control flaps on rotating shafts.  Apparently, the shafts were unreliable in some conditions and could possibly cause internal engine damage after a failure.  Porsche replaced the entire assembly with one that looked exactly the same to my untrained eye, but was said to have the problem fixed.

Perhaps something similar (or even identical) was discovered with the 991 GT3 engine?
