This thing looks so nice. Better that the Cayenne I have to say.

    Re: IAA today

Yes it does Enma. I can't wait to compare the final products: Macan vs this Jag.

There is no try. Just do.

    Re: IAA today

I think this Jag is more in the size of a Range Rover Sport and Cayenne - isn't it?

    Re: IAA today

I cannot see anything to like about this Jaguar. Looking at the pictures at least.

Probably yes, it's closer in size to a Cayenne but I hope similar in price with the Macan...

It's a concept and will, according to various journalists (I've read it in several articles), never go into production. Instead, there comes a successor for the X-type. The main reason for this would be the fact that TATA doesn't want Jaguar and Land Rover selling similar products. BS of course.... VAG doesn't do anything else and it works for them.

let's just hope those journalists are wrong... I like the car.

You can't compare the VW group and Jaguar LandRover in this context though, due to the difference in sizes of the two companies. VW is so big that cannibalisation of sales between different group brands is unavoidable in very many markets and therefore just par for the course.
The Jaguar and Land Rover products on the other hand are currently distinctly different and complementary, with no overlap of the brands' models, and there is the additional factor that in many (most?) markets they are sold alongside each other from the same main dealer showrooms.

    Re: IAA today

If I wanted a British SUV I would go for a Range Rover. Why introduce an internal competitor when your original product  sells so well, is already so well established and a kind of legend? Unless they manage to differentiate sufficiently  between the two brands, something I don't see how.

Jaguar, need a 3 series, C class rival and subsequently a smaller premium car in the A3 class.

    Re: IAA today

If you think about it (and had to choose between them) the Range Rover Sport would be the clear option, and to be completely frank I've never met anyone who has been completely happy with a Jag purchase. Their design has picked up in the last few years, the F type for example looks very good. But a brand name and a pretty face is not enough in the current market, there's way too much competition.

I had a 2001 XJR that I bought 2 years old that I loved. The only problem was I was in my late 20’s and a claret red with cream interior big jag being driven around by someone that age gets lots of laughs… The only problem mechanically I had was the waterpump going. That and eating rear tires (but that was my fault). Now that I’m older I’d look at getting one again if it fit my needs but would probably wait until car/booster seats are no longer part of my life.

    Re: IAA today

For $12k less than a Cayenne GTS or $30k less than a turbo (forget the turbo S), you can get a fully loaded RRS supercharged autobiography. Still trying to see how different dynamically the cars would be.

What I would have loved however is a 350hp diesel combined with a plug in 100hp electric engine with 0-60 sub 5.5s...

    Christian,

Unlike you, I prefer torque and powerful diesel engines in SUVs and daily drive sedans. I like the low end pull and cheaper commuting expenses.

For me, the powerful and thirsty petrol engines are only for weekend toys. Smiley Consuming more than 20 liter/100 km in a petrol engined DD is a "no no" for me. Smiley My average speed in daily drive is around 50-60 km/h. Smiley

Never managed to get our Cayenne to use less than 17 l/km (13.5 mpg) on my DD trips (800km per week). It gets annoying.

    +1 Smiley

I have my name down for the new Hybrid which should be available in the second quarter of 2014. I took a test drive the Diesel and they've done a great job with it. As long as the hybrid doesn't compromise the handling, it should be a winner Smiley

    Re: IAA today

Except the current design for the hybrid is not plug in and the electrical engine is too small...

My wife thought the same when she replaced her M3 Cab with a X3 35d Diesel but now she regrets every single moment of doing that, despite the much lower Diesel consumption (9-10 l / 100 km instead of the 19 liters with the M3). This is not about the Cab or sports car, this is about sound and perception. The X3 Diesel is just boring. Smiley

My Cayenne GTS is my daily driver and I drive at an average speed of 34 kph (according to the travel computer) to work and back from work, about 15 km each day. Yes, fuel consumption is high, in the 19s but I drive with a smile on my face all the time. Smiley Totally worth it.

I was told there is a backlog to April 2014 for Diesel - I've another year of warranty & servicing on my Volvo so will probably wait a year or so to see how they go. Will be very interested to read your comments on ownership in the interim!

    Re: IAA today

Does anyone have information about the upcoming Audi Q7, including possible release date?

This is a model that definitely needs to be improved in order to allow Audi to re-enter this segment with a worthwhile car.

Seems like this is your preferred colour combo on RR. Your Evoque was the same red with black roof.

    Re: IAA today

This is exactly the exterior color scheme and rims I would like. Is this the autobiography? What interior? I need to convince the with to get rid of the Cayenne TTS...
