    Not convinced (yet)...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

    Pentium:

BTW RC I might know why so many people around me at Frankfurt take pictures around using their Apple tablets... Because it's so damn easy to upload them later, from your hotel room, using wifi, to a site, directly from the iPad! Yes, you could do that from an iPhone too but doing it from a device that has a bigger screen size it's more convenient. Especially  when you started to perceive your iPad as your working device (your ex-laptop)...

Downloading from camera to an iPad or a laptop and upload them afterwards takes an extra step and more time... which people rather not waste...

Also remember that the vast majority of people are not tech savvy...

I doubt this is the reason because non tech savy people also don't have a clue how to connect to hotel WiFi and send stuff over the internet (my wife and her girl friends are the best examples). Smiley

I have a different "trick": I usually upload all my new photos to Dropbox the moment I shoot them. Then, I have them any time I need them on ANY device. Quite convenient.

Smiley Smiley (I use BoxCryptor though too, a German app with an additional AES256 encryption layer with RSA key but I guess the NSA isn't too worried about this one when they have access to their server Smiley, not that I care about the NSA reading my stuff, I am more worried about others).

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

OK, guys...maybe some bad news: According to a new rumor, GT3 production has been delayed by at least two weeks. Currently, no customer car has left the factory yet (again...a rumor).

Maybe there is some sort of an issue but if so, I am glad that Porsche caught it before first deliveries were made. Unless of course the delay is related to parts availability (suppliers), which wouldn't surprise me either.

First customer cars are rumored to be produced in October, not earlier.

Yeah, there's been a number of reports that the first production cars destined for the United Arab Emirates have been officially pushed back.  Would be interesting to know the cause, and whether that will have a ripple effect with the rest of production.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

It's a nice color. I would order one, yes. Very nice choice for a daily driver. But you need to be very careful to which interior color you mix it with because of the blueish hue. For instance I would not mix the Rhodium with the natural dark brownish of the espresso leather. Rhodium IMO goes very well only with black or with dark grey interiors.

    HI RC,

thanks..although I havent ordered a 991 GT3 I have reserved another 997 GT version with them - which will only be given aways once a new 991 GT3 version is available (besides the press cars). I would rather count on middle to late October for the production dates.

I fully agree that its better to wait and let  Porsche do their job..otherwise there would be a high risk of damage to the brand. However, originally it was planned to start production in late August..if its now October...it would be a considerable delay...which makes me think that it would be also a considerable issue.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

I think a logistical delay  rather than technical seems more likely.  Turbo,Turbo S, 911 50 and GT3 are all new, and all are entering production together which is novel for Porsche which traditionally has staggered its new model introductions.

I'm afraid I heard the same half an hour ago from a source. I got the reason for the delay but I cannot post it (sorry, this could come back to the source). Doesn't seem to be a logistics issue though.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 911 GT3 (991)

The video was indeed very nice but that MT video conference and "discussion" atmosphere looks kind of ridiculous. We all know that there was no direct video conference to their "guy" in Germany and the whole sitting at a table in a dark environment thing looks more like a group of villains planning the end of the world rather than some car journalists having a good time. Sorry MotorTrend but this is a fail. I get it, they want to look "serious" and "trustable" but I don't know...I don't like it.
