    IAA today

Spent 2.5 hours at the iaa this afternoon, quick highlights:

no question! Porsche had the most interesting cars and the nicest of all was the gt3 in rhodiumsilver! simply stunning colour for the car, definitely would be my choice!

turbo and turbo s obviously also very nice: feel somehow clearly more luxurious than the old turbo generation. The aerodynamiscs on the S works great, saw the deployment of the front lip. really cool. great colour combo inside, black with dark read. Somehow gives the impression of a bigger car.

Maserati Ghibli: half as nice in reality as it is on the pictures, would definitely not consider it after seeing it life!

458 speciale: looks great and also has a nice aerodynamic trick on the lower back.

Brabus G MODEL 6x6: freakin unbelievable machine, but definitel a truck and not a suv anymore! still amazing!

Range Rover sport: nice in the flesh but somehow very Evoesque... maybe i prefer the big Range as it has a more independent personality.

New Jaguar Suv: fantastic! has very different proportions from the Range family, being wider and much sportier! Has some Ftype hues and is really purposeful. Certainly a much more coherent design than the Cayenne. This car will be a big success if they build it like this!

Corvette Stingray: very nice, ßecond nicest real car after the gt3! it seems smaler than the old versions, much more technical and purposeful. Inside it is also quite small, i must say i just fit with my 1.87 m height. but nice: i miss the pdk though...

I could nit visit the bmw stand and see the M4, might try tomorrow. Saw a new 4 series coupe though and must say it is a beatiful car! nice proportions, elegant but still sporty. the m4 will certainly look very good!

    Thanks very helpful!

    Re: IAA today

Will upoad them as soon as they upload themselves to photostream which somehow they didnt!

forgot to mention: the 918 looks fantastic of course! so many lovely details, i could have spent a day just studying them!

They had two cars there, one 'normal' in a beautiful silver-bronze colour and another white one with all carbon fiber spoilers attached in the exclusive department (guess that is the weissach package) which makes the car look less elegant and more like a batmobile...:-)

In that same department they also had a third turbo S in canary yellow with black rims (like the ones on the 50 year models, somehow fuchs inspired) and black interior. didnt look bad at all although i'd never get that. Would go for this beautiful rhodium they have exposed on the gt3.... :-)!

The Jag is bigger than the Range Rover???

No, there is no real new model from Porsche exposed at the IAA cheeky

    Re: IAA today

The Jag is not bigger but mor muscolar. While the Range is straight on the sides the Jag has nicely pronounced wheel arches, so it really looks good.

And the grinning guy in the GT3 is me, i contempated spending the night in it ;-)!

True! the only novelty was the Turbo so to speak. Saw the deployment of the front spoiler, it's quite impressive and clever  i must say....!

    Re: IAA today

In that lighting, the " rhodium silver " looks even bluer than than Porsche's standard charge metallic  silver , the frigid ice wind north pole "  polar silver  " , from 10-15 yrs ago, which was succeded by  the bronzier warmer  midnight sun tundra "  arctic silver " of recent years .

    Re: IAA today

wow rhodium silver is a stunner and that on a GT3 - my oh my

    Re: IAA today

Rhodium silver in reality is less blue than on the pictures i must say....

Agreed. And still not a fan of the Speciale, even after those first real life pics. Smiley

    Re: IAA today

Thanks for the Pics... love the GT3 - rims are awesome, whole appearance looks complete!

The Fuchs-Rims I have seen also in real and I have to say they look just perfect on the 991!

Never thought that I would say that but the 458 already has a dated look on those pictures.... couple of weeks ago I would have said this car will always be the most fascinating and good looking Ferrari ever build but don't know why.... it doesn't give it anymore!°

Too much modernity gets out of date much sooner.

Don't think that Porsche design are so stupid as to evolve their models. If they wanted to be avant garde they could easily have chosen one of the numerous more adventurous design proposals that exist in their studios at any time.

I know exactly what you mean. The regular 458 looked vey timeless and coherent. but this Speciale has really harmed that. I really feel they missed the mark on this.

    Re: IAA today

@Regions - yep.... lots of things are looking great on the first look - fascinating your eyes but after a while it just looses it. It might be really what makes an icon. I have similar feelings when looking on old BMW models - they really appear old, while old Mercedes always had some appearance even after years. Funny.... don't know why exactly - just a feeling.

@Enmanuel: Guess the problem is the Special has just to many destruction's for the eye. The 458 has already a lot of lines and those colors are even more to focus on.

In that picture the liquid metal looks nothing like the color sample I saw. It looks very good indeed but I fear it was due to wrong color temperature setting :(
