It is designed with input from Ital Design, which VW Group now owns , and whose founder , Giorgio Guigiaro, designed the obvious historical reference to the Nanuk , the Mangusto, which was penned in 1965 , almost 50 years ago, and still looks more sleek and aggressive due to its width and lowness than most sports cars today, since it didn't have to meet today's active and passive safety rules . ! And if you compare the two rear angle shots, " exotica " sports car design has not progressed much, or maybe even regressed , in the past FIFTY years , no ?

You guys may think it's kind of crazy, but for my roads a capable sports car with suv clearance would make all the sense in the world. Just the styling needs to be improved.
In my world too this makes much sense. A paltry 3.5 inches of ground clearance is much less than many of the ruts found on Chicago streets.
I encountered one depression that was so deep I parked my car to measure it and sent the information to the city. It was over a foot deep, across over one-half of the lane and less than two feet in width. Six months later, that rut still exists.

In theory the new Audi sportscar could have air suspension so as to vary its ride height from ground hugging to an elevated rough terrain/snow stance.
It is no coincidence that Audi and Lamborghini presented the similar concepts of the Nanuk and the Parcour within a few weeks of each other. This could be the new supercar concept within VW.

This could even form the basis of the 960 and I could see a Bentley versus from the same component set.

Ouch..... These photos are painfully out of focus or blurred due to camera shake.... Turbolite if they are yours, please use higher ISO and shoot at faster shutter speeds.... Just a tip to get more consistent shots indoors.

In real life it looks less bad than on the pictures. Looks like an RC model from my son, kind of a cross between a Baja race car and some italian exotic (Mangusta was mentioned). Still slightly weird...
Mangusta was designed by Giugiaro who also contributed to this concept.
Giugiaro must be like old rock stars that perform their back catalogue as they find difficulty for new inspiration
