+1 Exactly. On every iteration of the 911 you read the same complaints. They are always just better, faster, safer, reliable (hopefully) and this GT3 is no exception. Hats off to another engineering marvel. If you want tons of (past time) excitement, emotion, connection a 2.7 RS or an R Gruppe 911 will fit the bill nicely .

Now that they have driven, they have to shut up. All that is left for them is rationalization and excuses. They should just apologize and stop their nonsense about the new generation of 911s. As for value, history rather than opinion and predictions tells the story about past "top dogs".

I have a 991 GT3 on order for December 2013 delivery, mine is Agate Grey like the one in this video:
Do you think the PCCB option is worth it? Love the yellow color contrasting with the grey!! But 10 k for it!
i do not think I will track my car, it will be my daily driver as I am selling the Panamera GTS...
please help me!!!!

While PCCBs are a very nice addition; however, based on your information that the GT3 will be your daily driver, and speeds are relatively low in Puerto Rico, I would stay with the still excellent standard braking system.

You don't need PCCB's. If Porsche felt they were necessary for the overall performance of the car they would have made them standard. Save your money.
Also, I believe on resale it they would have a negative impact on car resale value. Those who want to track a Porsche would look to a GT3. But they also would know the PCCB's on a GT3 would not be good for track work because of their durability and replacement cost.
Finally, if I were you I would change the exterior color. Agate grey is boring and tends to detract from the sporty lines of the GT3. AG is for sedans and military vehicles.

I agree with nberry on getting the standard steel brakes instead of the PCCBs.
But don't listen to anyone, other than your wife maybe, on color selection unless you are colorblind or have a history of making bad color choices. Some want their car to be a head-turner, some want (or need) to be stealth, and there are lot of people in between. Choose the color that you like.

I concur with points #1 and #2. Color choice is very specific and should be a color you and your spouse like.

I like being stealthy...
I had originally chosen sapphire blue but my wife hated it, and because I usually have the last word in my house: that word usually is "Yes Dear, whatever you want!" And she loved Agate Grey on a C4S we saw recently!

My concern with the standard steel brakes is that on my Carrera S the rotor looks so tiny in comparison to the rim...
will the GT3 ones (steel) fill the rim more? The PCCB's look like they fill it up almost completely and aesthetically that looks great!

I don't believe anyone will notice the difference in size. However, if things like that bother you pay the extra $9400. BTW, given the color of your exterior what color will you have the calipers painted? RED, Black or YELLOW? If you are getting the PCCB's they will be yellow. Instead of the car they will see the large yellow calipers.

I would certainly recommend the steel brakes on a 911 GT3, for a variety of reasons including, inter alia:
- Progressive brake pedal feel
- Fantastic overall braking performance
- Standard equipment (zero marginal cost)
- Less concern over risk of damage to brake discs
- Lower replacement cost for normal wear and tear
- Use $10k saving to cover 5-years servicing and tyres
- Overall performance of GT3 steel brakes is exceptional

I'm a big fan of pccb's. But I'm getting steel b/c of my concern of that underlying feeling that track use will destroy 10k of rotors in no time. Bugs the crap out of me.
For street use I'd not hesitate on PCCBs, especially with a dark colored car like agate/black.

for those interested, its been confirmed by Jethro from EVO to someone on another forum that the GT3 in the test above was running the dunlop "sport max race" tires (treadwear 80), while the 12C was on its standard pirelli tires (treadwear 220). the 12C can be ordered with optional pirelli corsas (treadwear 60) and with those the results would have been significantly different, im sure you all agree.

I was the person Jethro responded too (answer below). On that short course I would not have said the difference would have been significant. perhaps 1 second. He also pointed out that the Michelins are suposed to be a slightly quicker tyre in the dry but the white car they were testing on the track came with the Dunlops as these ere better suited to British weather...
I think the true test and answers will come in a couple of months when tested on Hokenheim & Spa tracks and maybe Silverstone. Regardless of tyre choice I think you will find there is not much in it. The new Dunlop and MPSC are by virtue of their compound classified as a "semi slick" tyre but by tyre tread design are actually classified as an extreme dry weather tyre. Go figure...
The GT3 used for the track test was on the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race tyre. It's an extreme tyre but also better in the wet than the old Cup+ fitted to 997 GT3 (which in turn is way better in the wet than the first Cup tyre that was fitted to the M3 CSL). Prueninger told me the the Michelin Pilot Cup 2 (which was fitted to the red car in Germany) is a bit quicker in dry conditions but that he'd choose the Dunlop for the UK. Both offer better wet performance than Cup+. These are the only two tyres offered on the 991 GT3. You can see it here: http://www.dunlop.eu/dunlop_uk/tires/passenger/sp-...
The 12C was on the P Zeros it is usually supplied on. I think it's fair to test the cars on the tyres that customers get their cars on - however, perhaps not pointing it out in the copy didn't help.
original guvnor - Re-read the track piece and it includes sections on what chassis settings the 12C feels best on etc - not sure how I could comment on that without trying different settings on more than one lap. I guess if it wasn't clear then I apologise... but it's quite a leap to assume from the copy that only one lap was completed. No matter, all cleared-up now.

Something I've read about 4WS.
According to Ulrich Morbitzer, Chassis expert at Weissach, at low speed 4WS countersteer corresponds to a virtual shortening of the wheelbase by 250mm and at high speed the advantages of 4WS correspond to a virtual lengthening of the wheelbase by 500mm.
Think that this system was first used by Honda and Mitsubishi ages ago, but never properly utilized until now!

Actually 4WS was used by Bmw on the 850 CSI model (but not on the rest of the 8 series) and this was rear wheel drive . I think 4WS was also used on the Nissan 300 ZX (rear wheel drive too).
