    seatbelt fasten warning

hi guys, i was wondering i anyone knows hot to disable the annoying bell that keeps chiming if you travel above 15 miles an hour without fastening your belts. I always put them on anyway and it is really driving me bananas. Ill crash cause of that indicator one day i know it.
    Cheers!

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

No way to disable the bell. I already looked into it. One option is to buy an extra seat belt clip and keep it in the receptor permanently. But if you wear the belt anyway then that's not going to work.

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

I've seen similar posts here before. Mine stops chiming after about 5 or 7 annoying chimes, am I missing something?

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

    Mine's more like 50 or 70 chimes.

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

shame shame, thanks for the advice

Don - Fortunately for you, you're missing about 60 or so further annoying chimes.

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

Now I remember, "just 5 chimes" was an option, cost me an extra $5,000!
You didn't see it in the list?

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

There IS a way to do it. You remove the instrument cluster (easy DIY) and permanently disable the tone generator itself with an injection of hot glue. Did this on my non-Porsche SUV a while back.

Problem is for us: we'd have to find out ALL the audible warnings that the Porsche tone generator gives out and decide if going without them is worth it.

On My SUV I didn't give a cr*p about other possible audible warnings. Actually, I don't think there were any others.

So..., guys..., WHAT exactly DOES that tone generator audibly warn (annoy) us about other than the seatbelts?

Am I the only one that thinks this doesn't make sense?
Sounds like you need the alarm to remind you if you say you "always put them on"

and MMD... sounds like you're super sensitive to the sound to have taken a hot glue gun to your car's electronics. may need to get checked.

OK let me start by saying I don't want to make anyone mad but if you put the belt on anyway how is the indicator going off? The way to get the warning to stop is to put on the seatbelt. I guess because I grew up wearing a seat belt, I always wear mine. Look at it this way, if you put on the belt the warning will stop and you get the extra benefit of "wearing the belt". A crash at 15 mph without a belt would not be fun.

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

Sure it makes sense. I just want i disabled cause it's so annoying.

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

I told my dealer to disable it, but the top techie said it can be done by doing something to the airbag, which is against safety regulation (but still offered to do so). So I decided against it as I like to buckle-up anyway.

They do these changes to configuration through the Porsche computer (PIWIS) that runs on Windows and connects above the clutch.

    Re: seatbelt fasten warning

It's most annoying when you are reversing. I take my belt off then anyway. Secondly, it's a pain when you travel a short distance - ie 100 yards - to a gate. You end up having to either listen to the chimes or buckle / unbuckle up numerous times before you get on your way. Classic case on nanny state - I would never drive without my seatbelt and I don't need my car to tell me to do so.

Sounds like a snip at 5 grand.

Did you also get the "radio on/radio off" option? That one seems a little expensive but at least the switch is wireless.
