One can only hope they did all the refinement necessary - otherwise the price would be a major problem for their sales figures...

$320K is normal considering how the Euro as fallen so much. 650S MSRP is $285K, and after options usually over $300K, plus tax of course which usually 4-6%.

Also, the launch edition comes in supposedly 3 versions -- luxury 1, luxury 2, and performance. Supposedly they include $40-70K in options over MSRP.

Will have no problem beating it considering the 675LT was equal to it in all performance metrics and a little bit quicker in some.

Also, you get what you pay for:

You know my opinion on this Smiley However, I agree - it is obvious why the P14 is expensive, they use a lot of high-level engineering/material etc. In the end what matters is the feel of the product on the streets. And here the 488 is a very high benchmark to beat.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Check out the as-tested prices of some of the test cars though. Ferraris are by no means cheap. Many of them easily spec over $300K in the US.

In Germany you can get a new 488 GTB Coupe for immediate delivery for 260-280k EUR.

You are right - some more epic McLaren depreciation could be in the offing.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

The question is: How many 12C and 650S will be thrown on the markets when the 720 arrives? And at what prices?

The local McLaren dealer offers two 12C Spider with 29k km for around 169-172k EUR and I am pretty sure you can get them a bit cheaper than advertised.

One 12C Spider is 172k EUR with only 18k km.

    A new (100 km) 650 S Spider costs 254k EUR.

For comparison: A 570GT with almost 4k km is 229k EUR.

Yes, wheels are nice. Btw, 19" fronts and 20" rears.

But, price tag is big. 720S with mild options will be over 300k € in Germany.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Price seems fair. How much will a 812 and Aventador S be? SVs were already like $500-600K. The standard Aventador was over $400K in many specs in 2011 when it first launched.

Over $300K is expensive, but so are many cars in this space. Pay to play.

Aventador Coupe with low mileage 260k EUR and Aventador Roadster 370k EUR...at my German Lambo dealer.

SV, brandnew, is 420k EUR I think (the one I saw yesterday).

Huracan Avio Special Edition was 250k.

Thought so about the 19"/20" combination front/rear. Right size nevertheless.

Price tag is cheeky. Don't understand how someone can talk about fair prices in that respect. Car will have tremendous depreciation. Smiley

What exotic car is ever a fair price? Ferrari rapes you just as much as anyone else. Lamborghini charges $50-75K more for a Huracan than its twin, the R8. Porsche gives you the same interior on a $50K car as they do in a $200K car.

Talking about "fair" prices regarding high-end cars is pointless. There is nothing fair about $500 seatbelts and stitch color, or $2000 CF cup holders.

For 320K you'll get a good spec in a brand new car that's quite possibly head and shoulders above everything else short of $1M+

Nope, the SV at my dealer was 420k EUR...someone ordered it. Incl. 19% VAT.

It seems that Italian sportscars are way more expensive in the US. yes

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Well, not true at all in EU. You should check the facts before posting USA only prices.

Huracan 610  is around 15K € more then R8 V10 Plus, 488 GTB is around 8K € more then Huracan. 570S is the same money as R8 V10 Plus. And 720S will be 70K € more then 488 GTB. All basic prices in Germany.

720S is for sure a great sportscar. Just, it is price wise in new class which sits just below Aventador/812 Superfast.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Let's not forget to add options and realistic spec. MSRP is meaningless when the average car has $50-70K in options. The launch edition 720S have tons of options already on them, that's why you can't actually get your spec'd car right away.

BTW RC. Those cars are priced nowhere near 420K.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

What are realistic options or specs? 570S for immediate delivery varies between 205K € till 230K € depending only on CF options and exterior color, again German market wise. EU "realistic" specs are pretty different then USA "realistic" spec.

Markus mentioned the base prices. My R8 is 220k EUR with all the options it has, the special edition Huracan Avio is 250k and my dealer had a Huracan LP610-4 for 235k EUR in the showroom, so... Brandnew.

If you buy these cars, the differences are marginal (although you can get better rebates for a R8, Huracan or McLaren than for a Ferrari...). Lease cost is a different story though. Nothing beats the Audi R8 in (low!) lease cost, the lease offers are pretty good. Not that good for Lamborghini or Ferrari, acceptable for McLaren (depends on model).

BTW RC. Those cars are priced nowhere near 420K.

They sell them over MSRP? Smiley I was at an official Lamborghini dealer and the car was an ordered car, ready for pickup. 420k EUR (420 something or 421 something, don't remember exactly). Even had that SV sticker (or paint?) on the rear fender.

Btw: If someone (Germans only) needs a brand-new Audi S8 Plus with all the goodies, my dealer offers a 832 EUR (incl. 19% VAT) per month, 24 months lease without(!) initial payment. Amazing deal in my opinion.

My local dealer had a 570S for 175k EUR with only 3k km, full options. Sold after only a couple of days. I know the guy who bought it. Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I'm not familiar with that Huracan, but IIRC, the V10 Plus has very few options and everything is already CF. What is the price of a Huracan with seemingly 100% of the options?

Full loaded V10 Plus in the US is about $205K. Full loaded Huracan was about $270K. Maybe your R8 price is a bit higher for some reason.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

It's probably also worth noting things about currency. Both the GBP and Euro have changed massively relative to the USD in recent years.

You are wrong (check the German configurator).

My car has options for over 30k EUR.

Carbon costs extra money (the engine bay carbon costs a fortune, over 3k EUR), magnetic ride costs extra money, dynamic steering costs extra money, sport exhaust costs extra money, B&O sound system is extra money...and so on.

We generally get a good deal, but seems we don't get the same deal proportionally from all makers - we get much better deals on some cars and not so great on others (not really currency specific)...

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

You get worse deals from companies like Ferrari who limit their production numbers, and prefer to sell into regions where they can sell for a better price. This is why anyone can walk into a Swiss dealer and buy one, but you get properly shafted in the US.
