    Sports suspension -20mm ??

I am just in the process of making my final spec choices.
I cannot decide on this or not ?!
Anyone care to comment on whether it is worth having or not.

Does it give a hard ride ?

I realise it depends on what sort of driving I do, but lets just say I am a spirited driver !

Also does it delete the PASM ? Think I read that somewhere ?

    Cheers

    Re: Sports suspension -20mm ??

yes you can get PASM OR -20mm

It does not only depend on the type of driving you do BUT
also in the type of roads you have in your country!

In my opinion, if your roads are not the best.,.. then PASM would be the best choice for you..

    Re: Sports suspension -20mm ??

    PS..

depents heavily if your 997 is a daily driver of not...

    Re: Sports suspension -20mm ??

    Thanks for the reply

I live in the UK ie roads not brilliant, but have read a few reports that it transforms the car into a lot more sportier chassis setup and I believe that the diff lock enables the power transfer better ?

I also plan on getting the Sport Chrono Pack+ as well.

More of a weekend toy really !

    Re: Sports suspension -20mm ??

    Peely,

I had the same dilemma too. There are quite a few posts out there if you do the search across the board. What did it for me was that the -20mm actually sits somewhere between the two PASM settings in most situations in terms of 'firmness' - I used to drive a V8 Esprit as my daily - so figured it should be fine.

I love the looks & no-electronics predictability of -20mm (don't forget the LSD aspect) ....mines a daily driver .......guess it depends if your're after a luxury GT or a 911 !

Are you saying that the -20mm isn't has hard as the Sport setting in the standard car ?

    Re: Sports suspension -20mm ??

    Peely,

Just did a quick search for post a while ago on this...

    http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=192263&page=&fpart=all&vc=1

If you hit 'show all' and scan down, you'll find a graph from Porsche of comparison of normal suspension (as per non-S), -20mm and PASM (normal and sport settings). You'll see that even PASM 'comfort' setting can be at times harder than the -20mm and 'sport' can be softer!

So, my conclusion was in general it's probably somewhere between the two, in many conditions. So, if you like a fairly stiff / sporty set-up it shouldn't be problem for you. Yep, also note that the non-S standard suspension is between PASM too.

Just got my build date last week - 18th April - so should be available 1st week in May to take delivery...whilst i'm on holiday. I did consider cancelling holiday / flying back early - but the wife suggested that it wouldn't be a good idea unless I could cope with sleeping in the car too

So, would offer for you to come and have a ride in mine...but suspect you need to spec before you could do that - and notice you're not too close to London.

Good luck with whatever you pick - what else have you got on your spec?

Cool, great spec. On the suspension, my advice is go with what you want. I comprimised on colour (wanted Guards red) but dealer convinced me was bad on re-sale, he did try similar on -20mm, but i decided i wasn't budging on that! I think it depends on how long you want the car for, the longer the smaller the impact on residual. I plan to keep mine a while, hence the decision - and red can fade if you don't look after it.

    Went for similar(ish) spec:

    - Seal Grey
    - Black leather
    - -20mm
    - Sport seats
    - Heated seats
    - Bose
    - Sports exhaust
    - Parking sensors

Skipped the Nav, but may add later, and having had single discs / autochangers, stayed with single disk - which given posts on ipod sounds like right approach if the ipod connection is about to become real.

The only thing i'd suggest is the exhaust (PSE option) it does sound great, but then i am a child

Yes well thats the only thing I can't make my mind up on ?!

Although when I was at the dealers, I was amazed at how loud/sporty these cars sound with the standard exhaust!

The only thing that put me off is the price, and would I get fed up with it after a few months ?

No! Probably not. PSM isn't really loud. And if it does annoy you then you can simply push a button to shut it up. (Only time I do that is on the motorway)

I am in Lancs too and driving the roads that you will be (probably).

I am glad I stayed with the standard PASM. I think it is fantastic and wouldn't have the car without it. Also, as I have said before the OPC (Kendal) said -20mm will damage the value with them at trade in time.
