in real world "autobahn" driving behind eachother it would be different again because of drag - whoever is in the back might even need to lift.... but still amazing that such a "old" car can keep up with a 458 - in the rain it would look different - also on b-roads. I am sure the new 991 TT will beat it.....(dunno if the gearing changed too ?)
The 997 Turbo/Turbo S were and still are fine cars. Some call them boring but I guess the only thing boring is the exhaust sound, which can be "adjusted" with the right aftermarket exhaust incl. new cats. I think prices will drop as soon as the 991 Turbo/Turbo S hits the market and many people will get the chance to get one of these wonderful cars 997 Turbo/Turbo S for much less money. Make no mistake though: These are not cars for beginners.
Let's be honest: Not many people drive their Turbo/Turbo S on the track and if they do, mostly for driver events/school or just for fun. So it doesn't matter if the "old" 997 Turbo/Turbo S does the Nordschleife 10 seconds slower than the new cars, straight line performance is still amazing for the "old" cars (especially 0-60) and for half the money, they are really worth it. Before ordering the 991 Turbo S I was seriously considering buying (not leasing) a slightly used 997 Turbo S with low mileage but in the end I realized that I get bored fast and I would want to be able to switch to the 991 Turbo S facelift after three years or so, making the lease of a new car the better choice for me.
