If you have sports chrono. Press the set button on the right side of the PCM screen and select the Personalization menu. The locking options are there. If you dont have sports chrono the dealer needs to set it.

I think there are two different functions that are mixed up here:
a) Auto-locking/-unlocking when driving off and coming to a stop. This one can be turned on/off through PCM if you have the Sport Chrono (or through the dealer if you don't).
b) The auto-re-locking when you unlock the car but don't open any door within a certain period of time. I believe this is a standard feature which can't be disabled. However, it also reduces the problem of unlocking the car unintenionally with the key in your pocket. Unfortunately, that doesn't work with the trunk.

My car is a little wired! For example, When I am talking to my friend while my car is unlock beside me, 5 min or so later, the car will automatically lock itself. But this only happened occasionally, sometimes if i forgot to lock my car up for the night, the next morning the car will still be unlock. Anyone know why?

Check your key in your pocket. 997 has the worst key I have seen. The lock/unlock botton protrude out and is easily "pressed" by anything in your pocket.
So if it is locked once and unlocked and you don't open the door, it will lock itself back.
You may find the trunk pop up without you doing it also.

I would think so, but my car will lock itself sometimes and sometimes not, anyone know why?
It will only do this if you don't open the door - basically it assumes that you didn't mean to unlock it. If it doesn't do this then something is wrong.

True - with Sport Chrono option only. From main PCM screen hit "set" and follow the options for locking (I think the auto lock at 6 mph is referred to as "when starting"). I just set mine up to do it as I always 1) push the Sport button, 2) turn off PASM sport and 3) lock the doors (I live in the city!)....now if only someone can figure out how to default with 1) and 2).

no coochas, not ONLY with sport chrono. you can ask your dealer to set the setting for you, as i did.
in the manual, it mentions:
Automatic door locking
Your authorized Porsche dealer can program diverse
types of automatic door locking in the control
unit of the central locking system:
Type 1
Doors lock automatically when the ignition is
switched on.
Type 2
Doors lock automatically when a speed of
3 - 6 mph (5 - 10 km/h) is exceeded.
Type 3
Doors lock automatically when the ignition is
switched on. If doors are opened with the engine
running, they lock again automatically when a
speed of 3 - 6 mph (5 - 10 km/h) is exceeded.
Type 4
The doors do not lock automatically.
Note
Automatically locked doors can be unlocked with
the central locking button or opened by pulling on
the inside door handle twice.
On vehicles with the Sport Chrono package, the
PCM can be used to activate automatic door locking.
Please observe the chapter "Individual Memory" in
the separate PCM operating instructions.

m.
