Possible...even very likely but I just love it to return the car to the lease company without having to care about anything. No resale value worries, no selling worries, no worries about the seriousness of the potential buyer, no worries at all. Yes, the lease is usually more expensive overall but it gives me a peace of mind I really love.
Leasing enables the manufacters to hide the loss a purchased vehicle might accumulate in the initial years. i don't believe luxury sedans would sell in any significant numbers if it weren't for those leasing rates as they do not need to match the loss over the same period of time. Still far better than giving the same rebate on MSRP as it would further water down resale value.
