And you can't buy one, haha, this car is not coming to North America.
Might have a chance to Canada though, had a chance to talk to a Mercedes Canada rep earlier this week and he told me he's been getting A LOT of requests to bring the car to Canada.
I told him I can give him a $50k deposit right there for the 1st one if they indeed decides to bring it over.

I've driven the car briefly at my dealer and I loved it so much, I got 2. They are due to arrive in October.
Autocar also rated it quite highly, they actually really disliked the M135.

You are so used to paying 6 digits for a single car, doesn't feel right to be paying 5 digits?
I was thinking about getting one as a daily driver for the whole family (me, my wife and even my mother) but in the end, I don't "need" one. With some options, this car is close to 55k EUR (after rebate) and for this kind of money, I could get a nice used cab or roadster (my wife really misses one), so I am still considering getting another car just for fun.
The A45 is a wonderful offer though, it looks pretty stealth (without that stupid roof wing) and it drives very well. I haven't had the chance to take a test-drive (too much work and other issues right now) but a friend did and he was deeply impressed (he hates Mercedes).
Congratulations, Mike...the A45 should be your daily fun car without attracting too much attention.

Rossi, you sell yourself for an A45?! Or did I miss the thread where Mike states that he has also ordered 2 Porsche 918.

Not for an A45, but for the rest of Mike's stable.

I hope you don't sell yourself for a horse...and I'm not talking Maranello or Zuffenhausen here.

Two?

The A45 is an interesting car.
But...
The C63 is even more interesting. A recent one, with 15k on the clock, can be bought for 55k:

I'd pick one of those over an A45.
The A45 has AWD. Case closed. Trust me, you don't want to drive a C63 in winter time, this is the illusion I fell for and (almost) paid a hefty price for it. Luckily, I sold my C63 at a pretty convenient price tag (almost the same I bought it for).
Btw: My wife is bugging me to get a cab or a roadster. I found a SLK 55 AMG (two years old) with low mileage (16k km) for 55k EUR, incl. a two year warranty from Mercedes. New price tag over 85k EUR. Very tempting, the sound is very C63-like, the power (421 hp) not so much. Unfortunately this car is not my favorite (I'm really not a SLK fan) and my wife isn't too please either, so I guess we are going to look further. So far, my wife likes the new Boxster (981) most but there is no new or used car with decent options and PDK under 60k EUR.

Christian,
The all new Boxster would be a wise choice.

i am very tempted by the A45 as well. then again i am not sure how i would feel driving a hot hatch...
i have been driving my C63 for several months, without driving any of my other cars. only a few days ago i switched to my X6M.....it felt very disappointing engine wise even it has more hp.
there really is no replacement for displacement. the 6.2L engine is marvellous in Sound and power delivery.
surely one cannot compare the X6M and C63 as a total package, i am referring simply to the engine and how power is delivered.
the same goes for the A45...it's just a high horsepower low displacement Turbo engine.

Well i felt the other way round. Coming from a ml63 amg swichting the the m5f10 ( will get the M6 f12 with competition paket beginning of September) and cayenne turbo wls, i was board with the ml63 an its hectical gear changing. More than loud exhaust not i couldnt get mutch out of it. For me the m biturbo engine and cayenne biturbo engine is on every aspect superior, power is there in every range, low end torque is fantastic. Even if i compare to the gt2 where torque and bost starts around 2500 rpm, the biturbo v8 are already at is max torque range, witch i feel very comftable for relax driving
I love the 6.2 l AMG engine and of course the sound. The BMW bi-turbo engine is an excellent engine but it sounds horrible. Not a fan. I just hope that Porsche did a better (exhaust sound) job this time with the new 991 Turbo S.

If the next c63 is available in 4wd, it will become a very interesting family car, more over on the second hand market if you can get one for 55k.
Indeed. Unfortunately I think that the next gen "C63" AMG will have a downsized turbo charged V6, so the sound will be much worse. I do not think that AMG will put a 4WD C63 on the market anymore, probably not worth the development cost.

I finally test drove one yesterday.
I'm wondering if the car had an issue cause I found it SLOW... No kick in the butt whatsoever when accelerating from 1st gear to 3rd, and the gears are really too short... You almost instantly reach the end of each gear and loose the momentum.
The gearbox was slower than the 991CS, especially when down shifting, it felt like in a TTS. Up shifting is quite fast, but not dramatic at all. Strange thing, when driving in S mode, it shifts at 5.500 rpms, but in M mode you can go up to around 6200rpms.
The exhaust note (sport exhaust) is good for a 2.0l, but it tries too much when up shifting, and not enough when down shifting !
The car sticked to the road (could not really push it though), and the comfort was average (thank's to very comfortable seats).
The audio (Harman Kardon) was very good for a car of this range (far from Burmester though, but I guess on par with Bose ?).
So in the end... big disapointment for the price they are asking (the car I tested was 65k€). For 40k€, maybe 45k€, maybe... but not 65k€ !
the smaller merc engines have very Little grunt in the lower revs.
i have just traded in my glk 300 to the new 350 with 306 hp.
when you press the accelerator nothing happens....only after revs build up the car moves.
while cruising and accelerating it is quite good actually (for what it is)
it has paddle shifters, but it takes Ages for shifts to happen be it up or down. just ridiculuous.
nevertheless, the cars interior is much better than the previous model and the Overall ride is much smoother.
as for the A45, it sounds as if something was wrong with the car you test drove.
