Very nice indeed, but since it's official, why to post it in "Unreleased" thread?? SmileySmiley Same for "Club Edition"

Well, this morning, the press release wasn't out yet, at least not in Germany.

    Now back to unreleased models...991 Turbo/Turbo S Cab, 991 Targa, 991 GT2, 991 GT3 RS, 991 GT2 RS...

RC, any dates for the Targa release?

RC, any dates for the Targa release?

All I know for sure is the year...2013. Smiley

It seems to be more and more sure that the Targa will come in different flavors (Carrera, Carrera S, 4/4S and maybe even Turbo).

...and from what I have seen (the mules) it will also be another very handsome 991!

Please accept my apologies if I was being too cryptic. There are many photos of the Targa mules both on Rennteam as well as all over the internet. Judging from what I see in those photos, I think the Targa is going to be a real stunner.

Do you know anything about the top panel? Will it be removable as on the classics or sliding/folding at the back?

If Porsche decides to offer the Targa on all 911 models (minus the GT models of course), the Targa will be a huge success.

Finally, a "real" Targa, absolutely amazing. I just hope that Porsche will offer the Targa also for the Turbo models.

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

I thought in the past Porsche Targa models for the most part were marketing failures.

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

When the previous "Targa" was introduced it featured not a detachable roof and angled "roll bar" but instead it was a glass roof panel that slid backwards below the rear window.  It looked weird, was not a real "Targa" but  the rear window could be opened with the roof panel forward. So what it really was was a hatchback 911 with a wierd roof line and a large sliding glass roof panel.

The 991 Targa will have a detachable roof panel and will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

I hope they offer it with green tinted glass as standard instead of the grey windshield tint band that seems to not look good with any paint color.

Targas have always been "niche" model variants. They have never sold in huge numbers, but if they sell in sufficient quantity to make a positive cash flow which covers the marginal costs of their development and tooling then they are not a failure.

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

The old Targa niche was sabotaged by a leak-prone seal. That's why they came out with the glass roof-ed Targa.

I was never a fan of the old Targa, but I LOVED the glass roof-ed plus hatch version, too bad they never made a 997 Turbo/S with that roof, I would have bought one.

Not a repost as far as I know.
Thing looks absolutely brutal, but doesn't show any sense of fantasy or creativity from the side of the designers tbh.

Probably GT2 testmule since it has the air intake on the side.

The air-intakes are not necessarily functional on a prototype -- e.g. if they used the wheel arches from the 991 Turbo to fit that w-i-d-e-r rear track on an early test mule.

Also note of the GT3-style centrally mounted exhaust... Smiley

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

I am a bit irritated about what looks to be rather common steel brakes, not the size and type one would expect on the GT2.

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

    Maybe is the GT3 RS...

Re: 991 spyshots thread (continued) (for UNRELEASED models only) Thread Closed

My bet is on GT3RS too. Which means it will get the wider fenders of the Turbo, so wider than the normal GT3.

With the central exhaust outlets it's definitely a descendant of the GT3 family.

Exactly. The body could be a GT2, but the exhaust comes from GT3 Smiley Probably RS....Smiley
