RC:
As far as I heard, Porsche plans to get the system power to 918 hp, which should be doable but an older rumor indicated 911 hp due to the 50 years anniversary of the 911 (which wouldn't make much sense in my opinion), so it remains to be seen.
Okay, then it will be 911 hp for the 50th anniversary model 991 Turbo GTS RS 4.0. I'll have one of these please.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.

Also notice it says MORE than 887hp and LESS than 2.8 seconds. So we don't know everything yet, we'll have to wait until September I guess.
No it doesn't. It says over 887 hp. I'm not sure that this equals more than 887 hp but I may be wrong. It also says less than 2.8 seconds but since there is no precise figure, this can be 2.8 or 2.79.

'More' or 'over', it doesn't make a massive difference, does it?
Yeah, same I heard that the final product will have an output of 918 hp, hope it's true.

Thanks a lot for the precious information. It is such a great pleasure to,read you guys.
For some reasons, the flat black one with red flames which is posted few pages before remindes me of a 910 with red flames I saw during the tour auto in France.
I believe it is Futch's 910?

WOW! The exhaust sound is amazing especially with the top off. Slowly warming up to the car.
BTW, if true this will keep Porsche up at night. What is the time on the Ring for a Formula one car?

The picture was first shared on this Chinese blog (club.autohome.com.cn/bbs/thread-c-2293-22693170-6.html), and the moderator is also a new member on McLarenLife. He attended a media event at the MTC a few weeks ago, alongside some other magazine representatives from (Autocar, AutoExpress...)
Not sure how true that is tbh.

Anyone noticed the pic with 6.33.26 after reading that Chinese blog?....... Did he made that up?... Or it is from Mclaren?....
UPDATE: McLaren just replied with the following statement about the above slide:
The image in question was included on a slide which was part of a mood board to inspire the design team for the McLaren P1™, and not the engineers, who are working to a target time of ‘merely’ sub-7 minutes.

Current f1 cars never ran nurburgring at full speed, but after Heidfeld marketing run, bmw engineers have calculated that around 5-30 is possible, but nobody knows exactly. Currents record belongs to Stefan Bellof with 6-11 on porsche 956 in 1983.
About video- note that it wasnt the fastest run of 956, it was one of the slowest ones because of >100 kg camera.

I would take that sentence to refer to the styling design team, so any time they might fantasize about would be meaningless in the real world.
Anything "sub-7 minutes" is still an ambitious target.

Porsche 918 Spyder test drive on Sepang International Circuit...
Very nice video in action!
Few questions:
What is the extra little hand movement he does, concealing the electric/gas/hybrid control dial, just after he selects the engine to operate? Is he intentionally blocking the view of the camera from what he is doing? Is there an anti-theft method there, or just some sport settings?
Why is he shifting around 6K RPM? Is this a customer car that he needs to baby? Is it necessary to hold back due to a break-in period, or because the engine is still cold?
Of course, like so many, I wish I had the means to acquire one of these. I'll just have to dream about it...
