    991GT3 US allocations

Based on what I have read on other boards, the ROW Porsche dealers have received their GT3 allocations some time ago. The US dealerships have not and frankly I am becoming very irritated. The US market is a large market with Porsche anticipating selling close to 1000 GT3's in 2014. Yet, US Porsche dealers have not any indication how many cars they will receive.

I suspect the same holds true for the TT. Why is Porsche discriminating against the US market.? I try rationalizing that maybe they are working to get the sport bucket seats approved and may delay production until that happens. Then reality hits me and think there is no way Porsche would delay production.

    Very pissed.Smiley

    Don't get pissed.

US dealers will get what Porsche HQ tells them they will get.  mail         Think about that

    Re: 991GT3 US allocations

I am hearing from my dealer they are getting two GT3s  later this year. 2014 number has not been set.

How large is your dealer? Mine sold 2.5% of all 911's in the US last year.

I am in the metro NYC area, but dealer is not selling that many 911s.  I think some of this is typical Porsche. Once they see the dealer order spread, they will finalize allocations for the year.  If you were one of the first to place an order, you probably have a good chance of seeing your car the end of this year.

Jim, I put down a deposit which I never did with Ferrari. At the minimum they should let me know when I can order the car. I could understand not knowing if I put down a deposit before it was introduced. But, this car was presented in March 2013. Not one word from my dealer as when I can order the car. Every time I ask same response; we don't know. Yet, the rest of the world dealers know and notified their customers.

Either my dealer is not telling me the truth or Porsche for whatever reason is holding back on the US market. I have no reason to think my dealer is not telling the truth.

(edit: sorry Nick, I just noticed your comment about the deposit, it doesn't make sense to me then).

Good luck with your order.  I hope your allocation materializes soon.

I remember a user on Rennteam many many years ago who ordered the first GT3 or Turbo, I don't remember anymore, at his dealer (pretty large dealership as far as I remember) but never received a possible production/delivery date. At some point, other users on the forum started to receive production confirmations but he didn't. He then met a guy at his dealer who claimed that he is getting the first car and that he paid a premium to get it. To make things short: The guy who paid a premium got the other guy's first car and he was quite p.ss.d. Not sure what happened afterwards but it seems that US dealers sometimes try to profit from high demand, by asking a premium (or if they get offered one...well...). Smiley

In Germany, things work slightly different (as far as I know, asking for a premium isn't permitted but I'm not sure about it): Dealers usually offer to customers who want their first car in high demand less rebate. So instead of getting 8-10%, you get only 3%. Just an example. Works for me... Smiley

    Great reference point RC!

I was tempted to make that implication, but didn't want to be quite that cynical.  If you've seen that happen elsewhere, then it bears consideration...

Perhaps US dealers have fallen on hard times recently, and need to be allowed to make up for it on the premium models.  mail

    Or not.

    Re: 991GT3 US allocations

More than likely Porsche FINALLY learn it's lesson. They have traditionally over supply the US market and short changed the ROW market. Resulting in no cars to sell ROW while giving discounts to move cars in the US market.

Maybe this time they will allocate cars for ROW first then whatever leftover will be for US market. Win win for everyone, Porsche dealers all over the world gets to sell car at list price and US owners gets better resale value because of restricted supply.

Interesting point of view, Whoopsy.  I hope you are right.  Has there been a similar shortage of base Carrera allocations as well then?  Or is this just happening with the premium variants?

I hate to see Nick holding the bag, waiting for his allocation.  Especially when he has been strung along, and given a deposit.  On the other hand, Porsche has been an all too common site even in my lower rent district.  I would like to see the marque go back to being a less common site on the road, personally.

    Re: 991GT3 US allocations

Hello everyone. I'm a long time member over at Corvetteforum. Currently my wife and I own a Corvette ZR1. We are looking to move to a 2014 GT3, unfortunately we discovered the new GT3 and started looking for allocation late. I've spoken to a few Southeast dealers (mostly Florida) and been unable to find one that could get me anywhere near the top of the list, even for next year.

I understand allocations went out today and I'd appreciate any pointers if someone knows of a dealership that might have an open allocation.

Feel free to post or PM, or email me at

    Thanks in advance,

    Re: 991GT3 US allocations

As I posted above in the GT3 thread, I received my allocation for the second quarter of next year. My dealership which is a large dealer received only 9 cars for this and next year.

My suggestion is to call dealers in smaller towns and see if you can get on a short list. Check out the Rennlist Gt3 site. A couple of people have backed out and some dealers appear to have short lists.
