Re: Cayenne GTS (2013) - Short Review

this worries me a lot....as a potential future buyer of a Porsche SUV I hate when little details dont work....- I have 2 Mercedes and +97k km on one not even had to change a light-bulp....

Re: Cayenne GTS (2013) - Short Review

    Guess who's (what's) back ? enlightened

I'm very disappointed with Porsche's automatic transmissions and will dearly miss the handling of the Cayenne heart mail

Re: Cayenne GTS (2013) - Short Review

had my Cayenne Gen I for about 9yrs now, only major issues were Power Steering pump, Water Pump and Coolant bottle replacement. I have got 111K miles on it and drives perfectly Smiley

starting to sound pretty customer specific - i really don't think you should generalize here from this rather strange fact pattern.

all my porsches have been rock solid save the IMS back in 2008.

According to the service center, they found out that there was a loose (sensor?) cable and hasn't been tightend properly (so much for PDI BS!) enlightened

I'll wait another 2 days for them to test the car and see if it will fail on them too or not.

I am not generalizing - just comparing facts with cars that might be in the same price-range or  cheaper but all "gizmos" seem to work for a +4 year period - whereas I have not owned a Cayenne - but get to hear from those who do about their run-backs to the "garage" to check here and there little things that are simple anoying and in my opinion should not happen... -  this is valid for many other brands too and can lead to people deciding to eather go or dismiss for a specific model.

Re: Cayenne GTS (2013) - Short Review

I had a very bad experience with italian cars like Fiat oder Lancia. Every single model (i owned a total of 6 cars) had serious issues, this can't be a coincidence. I also had minor issues with BMW, no issues with Mercedes or Porsche.

If Porsche has plans to replace my Cayenne GTS with a Pana TT or TTS w/o extra charge I don't mind at all, this car actually drives very well that I don't care much for the rear hunchback of notre dame design with pdk in boring auto mode too

Got her back after a 1hr test drive in sport mode, missed the throaty V8 and how stable this car has been  in crosswinds while the rest were slowing down hahaha kiss

At 1,000km 1 segment of oil has dropped, am I really that good in burning oil in Porsche cars ?  indecision I remember all 4 segments dropped in the Turbo at 1,000km (2010) angry

In sport mode the car sounds loud from the outside, but from the inside it's kinda dead yes must roll down the windows cheeky

Are you serious? I had passengers riding in the car just yesterday and they asked me how I manage with that "noise" Smiley all the time. My wife asked me to turn off the Sport mode and the passengers were so happy about it... Smiley

Speaking of outside: This weekend, I went with my daughter in the GTS for brunch. My wife and my son were riding their bicycles. After brunch, on our way home, my son and my wife were cruising down the boardwalk and I passed them, fully accelerating (at around 40-50 kph). Later on, my son and my wife told me that the car is so loud that they felt the tremor on the bikes and they had to stop riding their bikes because the noise was amazingly loud. Smiley I love the GTS. I also had to promise my wife to turn off the Sport mode in our neighborhood since she never realized before how loud it is. I am happy. Smiley

Fuel consumption however is a different story: I can't get the GTS under 20 liters and if I drive full speed on the Autobahn, I see 23-24 liters /100 km. Ouch.

Oil consumption? 4500 km now and one segment just dropped. Amazing for a Porsche V8. My engine runs pretty well, another GTS (he is also a customer at my dealer) lost twice on the Autobahn vs. my GTS, so I managed to get a "good" car. The performance is really not bad, surprisingly especially in the upper speed range. From 0-100 kph, my car needs 6.0 seconds flat (several runs with 5.9, 6.0 and 6.1 seconds). From 0-200 kph however, the car needs 19.6 seconds, which is quite amazing for the Cayenne GTS (Auto Zeitung tested it at 22.6 seconds, AMS I think at 21.8 or so..so my car is really in good shape, everything measured by GPS, not speedo reading). Not sure how scientific my measurements are but the car is definitely running very well for a GTS, so I can't complaint. On the Autobahn, there are rarely cars who pass me (actually it hasn't happened once Smiley).

Maybe I'm used to my Gallardo's Tubi exhaust with a manual gear which is even much more louder than a V12 Ferrari / Lambo angry

I was revving the engine just few days back after a 1hr drive with the windows down and sport mode on and off in the garage and when I got out of the car and got back inside the house, my brother asked me who was revving his motorbike that hard ? this isn't a proper time to do such things indecision

Fuel consumption is fine here, 12 ~ 13l / 100km on the highway w/o using sport mode most of the time due to traffic, when it opens up sport mode is a must blush

Not complaining here, just wish I could hear what everyone is hearing from the outside laugh

took a client up to our dealor today to pick up his GTS - wow what a sound. i was 2 car lenghts behind, listening to the stereo and my GTS was in sport mode, had the sunroof and rear windows open: he pinned it when we merged from 1 four lane to another and i could hear it inside my car.

then in town he took it to show his spouse - i was on 1 side of the street & he was on the other - he pinned his and then i followed suit in the other direction. kind of stopped the people walking around. that new sport exhaust is amazing.

Oil level is back to max, magic ? no

Regarding the suspension stiffness, I drove my GT2 for 30mins and jumped back into the GTS and the ride felt completely soft and too comfy which is actually good for a DD.

    - Fuel consumption has improved

    - Exhaust note has opened a bit

    - Oil level seems to be steady (back to max yes)

    - Upshifting in manual/sport mode in 2nd and 3rd gear sound aggressive in a good way

Re: Cayenne GTS (2013) - Short Review

Drove around 1000 km in one week during our short family trip to Italy (lake Garda). No issues at all, nothing. Zilch.

Fuel consumption on our way to Italy (fully loaded car...three big suitcases, two smaller ones, everything in the trunk, amazing, two smaller suitcases at the feet of the kids in interior) was a whopping 26 liters / 100 km, Vmax was 263 kph according to the speedo. More was not possible, didn't have a GPS with me. A BMW 7 series behind me, the car of a family friend, fell back, he was doing 250 kph top speed (speedo showed 260 though), so I assume the GTS speedo is quite accuate at Vmax, which is surprising.

On our way back, there was a lot of traffic and later on heavy rain, so my speed was more in the 120 to 150 kph range. Fuel consumption fell back to 16 liters / 100 km, which was acceptable. The "Sport" button was pressed all the time, I hate driving with it in the "off" position because of the bad throttle response.

The Italians loved the sound of the Cayenne GTS, got many thumbs up from Italians...and of course the already obligatory flipping me the bird from (German?) tourists. The family friend who drove behind us most of the time told me that every time I fully accelerated, he heard it inside his car. indecision His wife wasn't amused... angry

One day, we met a German Ferrari 360 Spider driver with his girlfriend and we drove through a couple of tunnels, having some acceleration fun. It was really nice and as a little hint: No, he couldn't keep up with the sound of the GTS. indecision

Speaking of the 7 series BMW: It was a 740d xDrive and while he kept up pretty well with me up to 130 kph or so, over 180 kph, it stood no chance, which was quite surprising for the driver. In the speed area of 200 kph and above, the 740d fell behind quite obviously. Still...this car does 250 kph (260 on the speedo), so it isn't actually slow. In the fuel consumption department however, he was king: Average fuel consumption at our first fueling up stop was only 12 liters / 100 km. Mine was 26 liters. mail He tried to keep up with me all the time, so he wasn't holding back. Well...maybe I should take a Diesel next time.

Overall, I am quite happy with the Cayenne GTS and believe it or not: Not a single car has passed me during this trip, most of them because they couldn't and others because they just probably didn't want to (I still wonder why someone would drive a 991 Carrera 4S on the Autobahn at 150 kph only but maybe I am a different kind of Porsche driver...). To make my point: I didn't miss a Cayenne Turbo/S at all so far, which is quite surprising. Only moment I wish I had a Turbo for a very short moment is when I have to make an entry to a busy street or on the Autobahn. From standstill, the Cayenne GTS isn't a race car (6 seconds are nothing special nowadays). The exhaust/engine sound however compensates for the lack of more power, so I shouldn't complaint. devil

So the good news is......Porsche decided to extend my warranty for another 2 years (Total 4) smiley they asked me to pass by the service center and wanted to download my ecu data/log and send it back to Germany.

Going full throttle in a Porsche V8 without Forced Induction is very addicting indecision if every time the roads were clear and free of radar guns, I'd be accelerating the whole time at 100% without lifting devil

Re: Cayenne GTS (2013) - Short Review

Exhaust sound has improved a lot, now that I've driven over 3000 km and can also be heard from the cockpit while playing music.
